((this wasn't requested, it's just one I wanted to make.
"Ugh!" I groan , undoing the line. I can't seem to get this to look right. I try again, but it still looks bad. Ctrl z. Draw, Ctrl z, and repeat. I slam my head down on the table. Why does solo animation have to be so frustrating?
Giving up, I stand up from my seat and walk to the window. It's Halloween night, and the weather is amazing. The golden, brown and magenta leaves scatter the ground as people of all ages run around dressed up as all sorts of spooky things.
I smile to myself as I take in the sight. I've always loved halloween, ever since I was 13. I had enjoyed the creativity of everyone's costumes and all the joy in getting a bunch of candy. I had always loved it dearly.
I decided to take a break tonight from animation and I walk outside. The perfect wind blows on my face, and the sounds of happy children and spooky frights make me smile. I walk out onto the sidewalk and I walk around.
I found down the street that someone had made a haunted house. Intrigued, I walk over to see what it's about. When I get there, however, I see a man dressed as a vampire on the front porch, on the ground and bleeding out of his arm. Well, his missing arm.
"Oh my gosh! Are you okay?!" I ask, kneeling down and taking off my jacket. The man doesn't respond, but I know he's still alive from the way he helplessly watches me as he loses more and more blood. I wrap my jacket around the exposed arm to try to keep any more blood from escaping his body and I grab my phone to call 911.I watch the paramedics as they zip up the body bag, the man who I had found inside of it. He had died due to blood loss. I had no idea how long he was laying there for, but I hate myself for not being there sooner.
I quietly walk away as I see people watching the scene I had just walked away from. Some of them are scared, but some of them think it was all just a show and are clapping. I sigh and make my way towards the candy store. I need some sugar after that.
When I make it there, I notice the store owner trying to push some kids out, One in a skeleton costume, the other in a pumpkin costume. I walk up to the store, and I can hear them talking.
"... And not long ago, got blood all over the place that I had to clean up. All. Day." The store owner says.
"Kevin, it was fake blood," The pumpkin responds.
"What's going on?" I ask, walking up to them.
Kevin responds to me, saying, "Fake blood or not, they always bring me trouble!" He says. However, I notice someone in the window, and I look to the side. It's a man with a devil costume on. I remember hearing about him on the news. Then I remember the vampire that died from a missing arm.
That's the guy who killed him.
Kevin notices me looking at the window and he turns around and sees the guy as well, and looks back to the kids, pointing at the window.
"See? That's trouble!" He shouts at the kids. I can visibly see his moment of realization as the man moves away from the window and towards the door.
As quickly as possible, I run to the doors and I shut them, holding them closed as I shout to Kevin to lock the door. He fumbles with his keys and manages to find the right key, locking the doors with the devil man right outside them.
We both step back, hoping the doors hold as we stand in between the doors and the children.
"K-k-kids, why is he following you?" Kevin asks the two.
"I don't know! He's been following us!" The skeleton says.
"Uh, maybe he wants a candy can!" The pumpkin suggests.
The man laughs as he lifts up his sweater and grabs a hammer. He begins to smash through the glass with the hammer, laughing like a maniac.
We all scream as we scramble to the back door, running out of the building as he makes a big enough hole in the door to walk inside of the candy store.
"We just want our candy cans, Kevin," the skeleton says.
"Uh.. We don't know why..." The pumpkin starts before Kevin grabs a big box of candy and gives it to them.
"Really?" Both of the kids ask. Kevin points, waiting for them to leave, and they do.
"Uhm... could I have some candy, too?" I ask him. He gives me a death stare, an obvious no, and I walk away quietly.
As I walk home, I notice the two kids again, giving some of the candy Kevin gave them to a few teenagers. They walk away, leaving the teenagers there, looking through the bags of candy they had received. Behind them, however, I see the man again, walking up to the teenagers from behind. Knowing something bad was going to happen, I quickly walked towards the group.
"Did you know, many cultures consume blood for food, and that includes humans?" He says to the teens, a knife wielded in his hand. The group is clearly terrified.
"Don't you dare hurt them!" I shout, stepping between him and the teenagers. I hear the three take their chance and quickly run out of there. The man laughs at me, and my bravery begins to melt.
"And what are you gonna do about it?!" He asks, tightening his grip on the knife and raising it.
"I-um..." I think of what to say, but realize quickly that I don't have time, noticing the knife swinging down. I jumped out of the way and began running, the psycho with the blade chasing after me. The only place I can think of to go is my house, so that's where I head to. I can hear him running behind me as I continue chasing for my house, refusing to look back.
I finally make it, and the second I open my door I turn around and slam it as hard as I can, but it doesn't shut, as the man's foot was in the doorway, keeping it from closing.
I run all the way back into my bedroom, running into the closet and locking myself in. I grab my phone and dial 911, barely able to press the right buttons as my hands keep shaking in fear.
My breathing slows, which is good as I can't breathe when hyperventilating. As soon as I finish pressing numbers, the phone dies on me, so I'm left to my thoughts. Thoughts on how i'll manage to escape.
I hear footsteps walking towards my closet and I freeze, realizing I have nowhere else to hide.
Suddenly, I feel something cold touch my face. It seems to be coming out of the door. I gasp, realizing it's a knife, and I push myself back further into the closet, compressing myself onto the wall. My back hits against a shelf and my eyes widen as I realize the shelf has been broken off.
I hear footsteps walking towards me once more, now louder than ever, and I can't help but cry out in terror, shutting my eyes tight.
And then suddenly, the person stops, and I can hear them mumble something. I listen carefully, my heart pounding faster and faster the longer I stay silent.
Then I hear footsteps move away, along with the sound of the door shutting, signaling the person's departure.
I let out a huge breath of relief, feeling myself tremble. After calming myself down, I take a deep breath and slowly open my eyes. I'm still alone in the closet, thankfully.
I shakily open the door and step out cautiously. I look around, expecting to see the figure in the red sweater that was here earlier. But instead, the room is found empty.
I slowly walk into the living room, unaware if he is still here or not.
I see the front door, wide open, as if he left in a hurry and didn't bother to shut it. There's a note sitting by my front door, folded up. I slowly approach it and begin to read it.
Dear Reader,
This is a warning for you. Don't come near me, my dear reader. Stay away. I know you're curious, so I'll give you this one last thing. Please.
Please do not search for me. If you do, your life is in danger. I will get revenge. For every day, I spent waiting for you. Every night, waiting. Each morning, wondering where you were. Not now, but soon, my treat, it will be time to pay.
Good luck.
I stare at the note in fear, tearing it in half and throwing it into the trash can. I turn to my tablet, which is still on.
I walk over to it, sitting down in the chair and grabbing my pen.
I stroak the pen across the screen, in attemps to get the line right.
Hey, that's not a bad line.
