I woke up dizzy and confused. I was on some sort of train, how the hell had I ended up here? Had I been abducted?
Then I remembered that I knew exactly where I was, I was in the Hogwarts Express.I started rubbing the seats up and down to make sure it really was the train, too focused to notice that someone had just walked in.
"They really are quite interesting, Ms Caja" said Professor Dumbledore, giving me a knowing look.
I looked at him for a second, stunned and embarrassed. "Yes, Professor, interesting enough that I was thinking about writing a report about it. You know, taking a survey and making sure the checkers were the right choice" And when I was certain I could not humiliate myself any further I finished it off with "Who knows, maybe even make enough of an impact so they change it into something more fashionable, maybe stripes, or even stars".
"Of course, I'll look into it. Well, I guess you know what happened."
"You mean becoming a second type of witch? Yes sir. But since that could be confusing, could we name it sorceress or something of the sort?" It was confusing, only days ago I had found out there was another type of mystical world, where werewolves and witches were completely different. And I guess I was the latter, making my eyes turn silver when much force was used and being able to perform every spell I had been taught without a wand or incantation.
While all of this seems great, there is a downside. Once your powers hit, every muggle that knew me forgot me. I no longer had a family, I just had the memory of it.
Professor Dumbledore let out a small chuckle and nodded. "The bag you prepared for when you were awoken is right in that corner, and once you are ready someone is waiting outside for you." He started opening the door but turned around one last second "I would hurry up, he is already quite impatient". And he closed the door.
I started getting dressed quickly, putting on my gryffindor sweater and baggy jeans. I laced the Nike Air Forces that I had put a spell on for them to match every outfit, and the tick and laces changed to a red with yellow highlights. I headed to the door and took a deep breath, turning the handle and slowly sliding it to the right.
And there he was, Remus Lupin. He looked at me with a huge smile on his scarred face. With every bone in my body I tried to stop myself, but it was no use, I threw myself onto him. I stayed there for a while, inhaling his scent, happy that I could finally do it.
"Hi" I said, finally letting him go.
"Hey, you good?" he laughed "Come on, let's go to the compartment, the boys are desperate to see you". None of them had phones, so we hadn't been able to speak, apart from in letters, and since I was from the south of Spain, the owls rarely reached me.
I hadn't known them for very long, I had only gotten my letter a year ago. There was some sort of mix up and it wasn't sent out when I was eleven. When I finally got to the school, prefect Remus was assigned to show me around. This began a friendship, not only with him, but also with Sirius, James and Peter.
Another highlight of getting my letter late was the large amount of money the ministry had to give me.
When we had finally arrived, I could see them from the glass, and they could see me too. James stood up so rapidly you could see the shape of his body in the air, but Sirius was closer to the door and he got to me first. He involved me in a hug, but was rushed by James, who tackled me with such force that he knocked me to the floor.
"James!" Peter exclaimed, but the only thing I could do was laugh, being here just felt right.
"Sorry Ann" He kissed the top of my head and helped me up.
"Hey Pete" I said as I gave him a hug. I sat down next to James and Remus sat down next to Sirius, who was next to Peter.
"So, we spoke to the headmaster..." started Remus.
"I'm guessing you have questions, that's okay, ask away"
"How long have you known?"replied Peter
"Peter! Dumbledore already told us!" yelled Sirius, and hesitated before he asked something himself "Your family, your friends, is there a way to make them remember you?"
"No, even if I told them, they would forget it again. It's okay, I mean, my friends barely remembered me before. I'll miss my family, of course, but it doesn't matter" I replied, trying to mask my sadness.
There was a moment of silence, I was looking down and they just looked all gloomy. But that was quickly broken by the one and only...
"You're coming to my house on Christmas, and no, you're not denying" James stated. Of course it was him, my sweet Jamie.
"We are all here for you, know that we love you, more than anything" remarked Remus. Sirius and Peter just nodded and gave me a small smile. James took me to his side and whispered a "We really do"
After this very cheesy moment, we talked about everything. We spoke about our summers, the pranks they were going to pull this year, and the glory of the ones they did the previous years. This all kept going, even when Remus had to leave to do prefect duties. He had to leave to introduce himself to the new students. Some people were transferring from Ilvermorny.
"What do you think they are like?" asked James.
"I've heard they are werewolves" Peter said.
"Like our Re-" started Sirius, regretting what he said the instant it left his mouth. But it was okay, I already knew he was a werewolf, they just weren't aware of it. I'd known from the first full moon I knew them. From the moment he returned with scars the next day I suspected something was wrong. Next month I followed them and confirmed my suspicions. I also knew the rest of them were animagus.
What they didn't know was that I was one too. I had turned myself into an animagus the moment I found out about them. I ended up a grey cat, watching over them every full moon.
"Hey, Lily" Sirius announced. And I saw she was at the door. I got up and gave a big hug. Even if I spent most of the time with the guys, I absolutely adored my other friends. I didn't share a dorm with them, due to it being full, but they had been nothing but welcoming when I first arrived.
"I'm here to steal Ann, we want to be with her too, so stop hogging her" she told them as she took my hand in hers and started to walk down the corridor as I gave the boys a rushed wave.
As we arrived to their compartment I could hear the girls laugh, and I started to get very excited. I always had a great time with them. As Lily slid open the air erupted into a bunch of "Ann!"
"Hey guys" I responded, a little overwhelmed at the amount of attention I was receiving.
"Hi, how was your summer?" asked Mary.
"It was good, pretty normal."
"You worked as a camp counselor right? How did that go?" asked Alice.
And the conversation flowed from that moment, speaking about each of our summers and about the classes we were eager about.
"I can't be the only one to be excited about seeing Professor Keys" started Mary, getting a hum of agreement and a small giggle from Alice. But the only thing she received from Marlene was an eye roll.
"I have a bone to pick with you Ann, you barely wrote to us this summer. Now that's just not okay" complained Lily, looking at me with a slight glare.
"Not my fault I live hundreds of kilometers away. And it's definitely not my fault that I don't own an owl and yours are too lazy to make the trip" I retorted, a smirk forming in my face. "Well, ladies, this has been fun, but I should go back to my compartment"
"Come on, already?" said Marlene "It's like the five of you can't be apart for more than an hour"
"Might be true, but we don't want to test it in case it's true, do we?" I laughed, doing a gesture as a goodbye and leaving.
