'I wish they will declare her dead' , he thought scornfully. However he covered his face in his palms, overburdened in disgust at his own self.
He never wished ill for another human. All through his life, he was tagged as a well-mannered person. Some appreciated it, while others mocked him and few even took advantage of it. Nevertheless nothing mattered to him. He was going steady until she came into his life. More like she was pushed into his arms, as a repayment of kindness he had received till then.
He knew that they both were victims of situation but she had left nothing worth in him to be intact. She didn't spare him as her wrath hit him day by day. He was broken, both in pride and heart. Now he failed to feel anything, not even pity on the same women who was now fighting for her life. He exhaled; despite his virtuous character, wishing over & over that she will not survive.
"Hold yourself, Boy", Kanta Sharma tried to console him. She may be a distant relative of his wife but now only remaining kin in Sharma family after death of his father-in-law. Although she never bestowed him the respect he deserved, he was never trampled by her. "Doctors are trying their best", Kanta's husband Jeevan comforted him, "Our Mehek is tough, she will not give up".
He knew she was a hard cookie. Tough like a rock, both in heart and soul. Meticulously wicked. Her cruel deeds have managed to shatter his personality to core. Jeevan Sharma who always had a soft corner for him, tried to keep him together. It was true that he was edge but not with worry for her. Unknown to all, he was wishing for liberation from his toxic marriage.
"Mr. Shaurya Khanna", a senior doctor came beside him, "we tried our best but....". Kanta wailed while Jeevan tried his best to console her. "I am sorry. We could only save her life. Your wife slipped into coma", doctor patted his shoulder, trying to give him courage to digest the news while he stood numb.
