"Five more minutes.." Felix muttered as he felt someone gently shaking him in an attempt to wake him up. A familiar chuckle came from beside him.
"I'd let you, Lixie, but I think Chan hyung's gonna kill me if you don't get up and eat breakfast." A voice that Felix recognized as Hyunjin said. "Also, I'm pretty sure Minho hyung is also worried about you. He said you ended up crying last night." It was then that Felix noticed Minho wasn't on the bed.
"Where is Minho hyung?" He asked Hyunjin.
"Kitchen, I think." Before the redhead was able to say anything else, Felix disappeared into the hallway in a single second. He entered the kitchen to see Minho monitoring the stove and hugged him from behind, startling the older man a little.
"Good morning, Felix. How was your sleep?" The blonde smiled brightly, letting go of Minho and sitting on a chair across from him.
"It was peaceful. Thanks for letting me spill to you last night, it helped a lot."
"It's no problem, Felix. Do you want some breakfast?"
Felix accepted the offer and joined the others in the living room to wait for the food to be finished. As he sat down between Hyunjin and Jeongin, Chan addressed the plans for that day.
"Changbin, Hyunjin, Seungmin and I are going to try to keep the sound monsters away from the city. Han, Felix, I.N, you three are going to stay with Minho at the base. Han, you can tell Felix about the idea you had last night and get to work."
"Right." Han started explaining the idea to Felix. The blonde was impressed by his friend's train of thought and agreed to it once Han finished explaining. Minho appeared in the living room with plates of food and everyone ate to their heart's content.
An hour later, Minho, Han, Felix and Jeongin bid the other four goodbye and good luck before following Han to the laboratory-workshop where abundances of supplies were housed. Minho taught Felix the ropes while Han and Jeongin got to work on the new device. After Han and Jeongin finished the first design, they tested it out. A minute or two later, Han concluded that it was too weak in terms of sensing supernatural activity, such as sound monsters. Minho and Felix joined them as they made adjustments to the device, which, according to Han, its design was already good. They continued switching out power sources and testing the device for the next hour or so. Around eleven, Felix went to make them some lunch while Minho, Han and Jeongin continued working on the device.
After a quick lunch break and a few hours of work, the device was completed. Since the other four weren't home yet, they couldn't test it out properly. Minho and Han went to their rooms to sleep, Jeongin went to the bathroom while Felix decided to bake. He hadn't baked something in a long time and wanted to get back into it. After flipping through one of the cookbooks that was on the coffee table, he decided on making sugar cookies. As he prepared the ingredients, his mind was still thinking of what happened at the warehouse. He passed out because of the sound monsters' effect on him in addition to exhaustion from running around the warehouse. He sighed. Why was he so weak? Why couldn't he even handle exhaustion? He knew he was overthinking and that Minho would lecture him to death if he found out about this, but he couldn't help it. What was done was done and he couldn't do anything about it, yet he still felt guilty. Felix shook the cobwebs of thoughts from his mind and focused on mixing the sugar cookie ingredients. After chilling the dough and portioning the sugar cookie dough, he slid the first pan of sugar cookies into the oven and shut the oven door. He'd taken the first batch out since they were done and was placing another pan of sugar cookies into the oven when he heard Jeongin's voice from above him.
"What are you baking, hyung?" Felix stood up to see Jeongin clearly.
"Sugar cookies." Jeongin's eyes lit up at once.
"Can I try one?" Felix chuckled before shaking his head.
"They're still fresh out of the oven, Innie. You're going to burn your mouth if you eat one straight away. Let them cool down first, then you can try one." The maknae pouted but nodded. He helped Felix store away the stuff that was used to make the sugar cookie dough. By the time the second batch of sugar cookies were done, the first batch had cooled down significantly and Felix allowed Jeongin to try one. As soon as he took a bite into the warm cookie, his face lit up in joy.
"This is so good, hyung!" Felix breathed a small sigh of relief.
"Thanks, Innie."
By the time that the last batch of sugar cookies were done, the others had returned from their mission to the smell of cookies. Hyunjin and Changbin were quick to greet Felix and Jeongin before snatching up some cookies and munching on them happily.
"Hi Felix, Jeongin. How did you guys do on the device?" Chan asked, taking a cookie to give to Seungmin.
"Han hyung thinks he got it right but we haven't properly tested it yet." Jeongin informed him. Chan just nodded before taking a bite of his sugar cookie.
After finishing half of the first batch of sugar cookies, they woke up Minho and Han to go out and test out the device together. They managed to find three buildings relatively close to the Oddinary shop that were packed with sound monsters with the echolocation device. Successful, they returned home feeling relieved and accomplished. Minho, with the help of Chan and Felix, made dinner and the group had a friendly and laughter-filled night
