Y/N p.o.v
It had felt like hours until he finally left you alone inside of the cell, some words you listened to, others not so much from the context before it all. It seemed to have no end after an hour of listening. But with your ability to push through it and give constant dull responses every single time they had waited for a response, you were finally left alone to spend some time thinking of what is the best course of action.
Though, with this time to think, it was making time pass slower than sinking to the bottom of the sea.The seeming eons of time passing felt like misery of how boring it had become when waiting for a moment to be let out of the cell. It was nearly time to rest and let the time pass much quicker, but, you chose not to, instead you focused on the bars, looking for any possible weak point it could have gotten through time. There were chipped parts of the cell, along with some rust that formed from water bashing against it, signifying the number of times the ship had water on board. You stared at where the crew would enter from, before steading your breaths. At first, it was in, and out, in, then out, but once you had hit the third intake of air, you kicked the bars as hard as you could. It hurt like hell hitting it with the bottom of your foot, though you forced yourself to move past the pain. In, and out, in, and another kick. The rusted bars began to chip, only in small quantities, but enough to give you a sliver of hope of getting out of the cell. You took another breath in before using all of the force you could come up, bashing your foot against the metal bars. That's when you heard it, the clinking of metal against the wood you stood on. You brought your foot down in glee, staring at the small part you had just broken off. It may be small, but it was your ticket out of this cell and hopefully a way to get off of this damned ship. The knees that usually helped support your legs on keeping you up, fell for a moment to relax. Your hands had other intentions, reaching through the hole and grabbing the bar, once you grabbed it, you aimed for where the lock was for the cell.
You knew your time was short, there being no possible way that the crew or captain wasn't able to hear the sounds of metal breaking or the sounds of metal being hit in general. With a quick jab to the lock, it broke with ease, almost to the point of making you second guess if you could have just opened the door with your hands. If that was the case though, you'd be cursing yourself blind for how pointless it was for taking time into listening to the crew member, only to then cause your foot to bruise, just for what? A door that you could have opened this entire time. So, you pushed that idea to the back, for your mental sanity. Right now, all that mattered was saving the two mermaids that you set their life to be shortly ended by a bunch of people who had lost it to the sea. You hoped that they would never realize that you're the one who caused them to be chased after by them. You moved upwards, taking each step carefully to hopefully not cause more attention to the prisoner's room. The area around you changed, making you now see the sunny day that had started only hours ago. The eyes that were glued to the surroundings scavenged for a way of hope to escape. As they scanned from area to area, crew member to crew member, you spotted something. It was a revolver, as you looked around, you noticed not many crew members were near, intentionally being left by someone who became occupied with something or was given orders while in the middle of reloading it for the next objective. You took a singular breath in to prepare yourself to push past a dozen panicked people, who had just noticed the same person that was held captive in a cell, had escaped and was planning to attack and win. One step is all it took before your whole body lunged toward the gun, with each step, a new thought appeared. Step, what if it's not loaded? Step, they could grab and throw you back in the cell. Step, are we planning to kill them? With every new thought, it was pushed back by another, giving you no time to react or justify why that may not be the case. You grabbed ahold of the revolver as though your life depended on keeping it close and never letting go.
That's when you noticed, they were all staring at you, their faces shaped as blurs from your vision becoming foggy from adrenaline. Your breaths became pants as you frantically looked around at them all, who were keeping their distance. Your body was shaking, the pain and soreness disappearing as you screamed for the captain. Just one more step closer to hopefully saving the lives of the two mermaids. . .
