"Oh my gosh!" I said.
"What? Are gonna gush about Jonah again?" Celest asked.
"How can I not I mean look at him he's gorgeous! Ya no, you can see his six pack showing through his thin white cotton shirt his biceps so intense-" I dreamily rambled.
"Gretta! Snap out of it,"
"Oh my gosh I'm doing it again... Huh he's just so perfectly.. I don't know... Perfect." I say.
*Jonah Carmichael is the hottest guy at our school, tall, perfect tan skin, light brown hair intelligent green eyes, star football player (quarter back), a wrestler (keeps him buff), and part time swimmer (is that possible?), really popular, and a guitar player (who wouldn't want to date that!).
*I, Gretta Campbell am a normal teenage girl, nothing interesting about me, dark brown hair, brown eyes, at age 16 am only 5 foot 2 inches tall, by far the shortest in my grade (wich is unfortunate because Jonah is 5 foot 9 inches) my only talent is singing, wich no one has ever heard, because I am far to self-conscious.
*Celest Jones is my best friend ever, I love her to death, she will do anything for me (same to her from me), she is two inches taller than me, has natural blond hair and light blue eyes, she plays soccer all the time (another unfortunate thing about me is that I'm a terrible clutz but I'm the one who has to help her practice).
"So today your challenge of the day is to say 'hi' to Jonah by 4th hour." Celest states innocently.
"Huh, that's not even fair, you know I can't even breathe when I'm near him." Celest and I have been coming up with Challenge of the Days for as long as we could remember, they are what give us story's to tell.
"Well sweetheart life isn't fair, you have to do it, because you know it will be your challenge until you do." Celest gave me a rueful smile, I sighed knowing she would make me.
"Speaking of fair, your challenge is..." I paused dramatically. "To not say anything until the bell rings." I smiled smugly.
A moment later she opened her mouth to speak but I cut her off, "No, no. You don't get to talk yet."
Just then she pulled her phone out and began to type, seconds later my phone buzzed in my pocket. I sighed and pulled it out. Celest had texted me:
"For real, this is child-ish!"
I looked over but she was typing on her phone again so I reached over and took her phone, "Like I said you don't get to talk and now I must add no texting either." I giggled wildly but Celest just gave me 'the look', said nothing but seriously continued which made my giggling turn into laughing hysrarically.
Soon the bell rang and Celest reached for her phone before I could stop her, and started talking a mile a minute. Suddenly, she just stopped and stared out the window behind me, I turned there getting out of his brand new sports car was Jonah Carmichael. My breath caught in my throught and Celest said tauntingly, "Ya no, you could go say your hello now instead of later when he's with his friends."
I glared at her but knew she was right. I sighed and thought, "Now is my chance," I took a deep breath and got out of Celest's car. Soon I was close enough to smell his cologne (which was rather strong but I didn't care) then he turned and looked at me.
Again my breath caught in my throughout, mentally cursing myself, I tried to say hi, but it came out barely a whisper,
"Hey," Jonah said, suddenly I was able to breathe again.
"What's up," I said hopeing I didn't sound desperate.
"The usual," he laughed, the sound of his laugh alone made my brain stop working. Then continued with, "So, er, I forgot to introduce myself, I'm Jonah, and you are?"
"Ummm," oh my gosh!! No my name!!!! It had slipped my mind, "Er, I'm G-Gretta" huh I must have sounded pretty pathetic but he didn't seem to care.
"Forgot your name have you?" He teased.
Embarrassed I tried to redeem myself, " No, I just, ummm-" I didn't know what to say, my cheeks burned bright red, but I didn't care I was lost in his eyes, those huge green eyes so full of life.
"It's okay," he said and I believed him, I did for one short moment.
I stopped believing him when Liza his ex-girlfriend came over and began to flirt with him, clearly I was not welcome anymore so I turned to walk away. I thought that it was done that I would leave and Jonah would forget me but he didn't, nor did he try to stop me when I left.
*- Three hours later -*
"Sooooooo," Celest asked
" huh, soooo, what Celest?"
"Jeez what's your problem I was going to ask about you and Jonah but clearly your just going to be a sour apple so never mind."
"Well it almost went well." I said.
"By 'almost' what do you mean?" Celest asked pressing for details.
"Well it was awkward, I forgot my own name, and couldn't answer 'what's up' because I was lost in his eyes, then to make things worse Liza showed up to claim him again." I pushed my lunch forward not hungry anymore.
"We'll you know what, these things happen, they stink but they happen."
"Oh thank you Celest I feel sooo much better now," I said sarcastically trying to hide a smile.
After a while we just kind of sat there and look around the cafeteria. Suddenly movement caught my eye, not just any movement but a movement that caused every hot guy on the move sensor in my body to go off... I turned at light speed to see what was happening, it was Joan Carmichael walking my way... This was going to be embarrassing (my light speed turn may have caused my drink to spill and food to leave my tray).
Celest was suddenly alert again, "What the heck?!"she said.
"Hurry, help me clean this!" I said frantically.
Luckily the mess was clean before a certain hot guy approached the table and said,
"Mind if I join?"
