The moment we walked into the hall, all conversations quieted. Some even stopped completely. The older students watched us as we walked in a huddle behind McGonagall.

Each table seated different students. One table had students in green cloaks: Slytherin. Another table had students in yellow cloaks: Hufflepuff. Then there were the students in blue: Ravenclaw.

I passed a boy in a deep red, Gryffindor. The house of bravery and courage, my family's house.

My house; the house I'm destined to be in. Despite the fact I've known that I am to be a Gryffindor, there's always been something about-. No. There's no other house. It's Gryffindor, my house is Gryffindor.

I took a deep breath, hating the way my chest shook. I was Arielle. Alaska Arielle Weasley. And I am a Gryffindor.

The crowd of students stopped before a podium that an old man stood before. He had long white hair and even a longer beard. His eyes wrinkled in the corners as he smiled warmly at us. "Thank you Professor McGonagall." The man nodded at McGonagall before turning back towards us. "Welcome to a new year at Hogwarts to those of you who've returned, and to you first years I'd like to welcome you to Hogwarts. I'm Albus Dumbledore, headmaster here at Hogwarts."

"Professor McGonagall mentioned to you all, the first step in your Hogwarts career begins with the Sorting Ceremony. There are four houses you could potentially be placed in, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin."
He coughed into his arm before continuing, "Gryffindor is for the Brave and Courageous." The Gryffindors pounding on the table. "Hufflepuff is for the kind and caring." The Hufflepuff table beside me happily cheered. To cheery for me, don't get me wrong. Hufflepuff a are nice and all, but I like breaking the rules every once awhile. "Ravenclaw is for the smart and talented." The Ravenclaw claw students all nodded, lien they agreed with him. I rolled my eyes, Ravenclaw's seemed full of themselves. They thought they were superior just because they were smart. "And finally Slytherin, for the ambitious and cunning." Their table erupted in hoots and cheers. Kids around me, both first years and older students whispered to each other.

"That's the evil house." One girl whispered.

"He-who-must-not-be-named was in that house." An older student told his friends.

"They say if your in that house, your a death eater." A Ravenclaw hissed to one of the girls sitting beside him.

I rolled my eyes, it was just a house. Not a cult or something stupid like that.

As Dumbledore waiting for the whispers to cease, I felt his eyes land on me. I felt heat grow in my stomach grow, and had a feeling the next thing he said would be directed at me.

But that was impossible, he didn't know me.

"And before we begin with the ceremony I would like you all to know the Sorting hat makes no mistakes." I gulped and I got the feeling something bad was going to happen.

A chair appeared slightly in front of Dumbledore and a raggedy brown hat was placed on top of the seat.

Form her cloak, McGonagall pulled out a scroll. The hall went dead silent and I could hear the rustle of paper as she unraveled it. I held my breath, and she read out the first name. "Hannah Abott." A short girl with chubby cheeks ran up to the stool. As she sat down McGonagall placed the hat on her head.

It was quiet until the hat boomed, "HUFFLEPUFF!" The Hufflepuff cheered as the girl ran to their table, some of the older students clapped her on the back.
