Chapter 8

You sat near a far corner in the bustling cafe. It had a cozy and inviting atmosphere, tables were filled up quickly and many people wandered in and out of the cafe. A strong cinnamon and pumpkin scent filled the shop and firewood was being burned in a small fireplace.

I didn't expect so many people to be here... You picked up the cup of salted caramel latte you had ordered and held it to your face for a bit. You could feel the coffee's warmth on your face, causing you to hum a bit.

Your body slowly sinked into the soft, vibrant leather cushion. Your troubles slowly sifting away. You leaned your head back against the hardwood walls, your (H/C) hair falling down to your shoulders.

You took a sip before looking out the long window. Vibrant, autumn leaves were carried away by the windy fall weather as people walked through the park surrounding the cafe. It was a scenic view, and you couldn't get enough of it. After a bit of admiring, you turned your attention to your phone and began to scroll through instagram.

The cafe shops bell rang and you could hear light footsteps approaching you. You'd been so distracted with your scrolling that you hadn't noticed Fuyuhiko's presence. He lightly tapped the table, quickly alerting you. "Oh, Fuyuhiko. Didn't see you there." You smiled nervously. "Obviously." He huffed, taking off his scarf and coat.

"I'll be back, I'm just going to to order something for us." He said before walking over to the counter. For... us? You could feel your face contort into a smile. Fuyuhiko soon returned with a hot drink and a bag of sweets.

"So... why did you want to meet me?" You asked, just before taking another sip of your latte. Smooth jazz filled the room, entertaining you and Fuyuhiko's ears. Fuyuhiko had paused briefly, as if he was trying to gather up his thoughts.

"Are you... free on the weekend?" He muttered whilst looking anywhere but your face. You could feel your face heat up, though it wasn't from the coffee this time. "No?" You paused before continuing, "Why, what's the special occasion?"

You tilted your head while waiting for a response. "No special occasion. Just come, alright?" He said before biting into one of the freshly basked donuts he'd ordered.

"Are they good?" You asked before taking another sip of your latte, this time savoring the flavor. "Mhm. Not as good as yours, though." He said before taking another bite.

Your face flushed a deep red. "What?" You stuttered nervously. "What do you mean 'what'? You're the Ultimate Baker, right?" Fuyuhiko stared you dead in the eye.

You'd only lasted 5 seconds before quickly breaking the eye contact. "I mean yeah bu-" "So, it doesn't fucking compare." He cut you off with a warm smile.

"Who are you?..." you chuckled. "The hell? I can't be acting that different, right?" He chuckled softly as well.

Time had crept on you ever so silently and before you knew it, it was already dark outside. You looked at your phone to check the time and found that it was 7:30 P.M. already. "Can't believe it's over already." Fuyuhiko's comforting voice seeped into your ears.

"Yeah. I had an amazing time with you." You smiled, calling over a employee to the empty table. Fuyuhiko gave you the bag of sweets he had ordered for you. "Thank you, but you didn't have to, y'know?" You murmured.

"But I did." He smiled as he put his coat and scarf on. Suddenly, a clash of thunder boomed through the park, startling everyone in the cafe. And soon followed was heavy rain. "Fuck. I knew it'd rain but not this early." Fuyuhiko mumbled while grabbing his umbrella.

You slipped on your scarf and long coat while waiting for him. You lightly tugged on his shoulder. "Wait. Perhaps we should stay here a little longer until the rain calms down." Fuyuhiko nodded his head and slowly put his umbrella down.

You two sat back in the corner and you watched as the rain trickled down the long window, leaving a watery trail behind it. Everyone who was previously had quickly rushed off to take shelter from the disastrous weather.

"I don't want this to end..." you whispered subconsciously to yourself. You turned your face away from the window to see Fuyuhiko looking at you surprised. His cheeks were heavily coated in red.

"Me neither." His response startled you, however you couldn't help but feel pure bliss afterwards.

During your little time left in the cafe, you chatted nonstop with Fuyuhiko. And his responses only made you crush harder on him.

"Do you want me to walk 'ya home?" Fuyuhiko asked while holding the door open for you. "I wouldn't mind that." You replied with a radiant smile. As you both stepped into the light rain, he quickly opened his umbrella.

He was on his tippy toes trying to cover you with the umbrella, causing you to laugh in outburst.

"What the hell is so funny?" He snarled. You wiped your tears of laughter and crouched down to pick up his umbrella. You gently took it from him and gave him a small peck on the cheek before standing up again.

That small kiss had done more damage then you thought, leaving him stunned for a bit. Your eyes widened as you realized what you just did. "Ah, I'm so sor-" "It's fine."

His face was completely red and he had a very flustered and quickened tone. "I didn't mind it..."

As you neared your house. You stopped shortly and turned to Fuyuhiko. "Thanks, for everything..." you paused, "I can't wait to do this again with you, Fuyu." You smiled and he simply dismissed you.

"Yeah, no problem. You can keep the umbrella as well." He smiled at you before his demeanor quickly switched again. "Wait, what the fuck did you just ca-" "Bye! See you at school" you laughed as you ran towards your house, splashing into small puddles caused by the rains aftermath.

"Bye." Fuyuhiko put his hands in his pocket and walked off into the dark night sky. His heart was a flutter and his face was a bright red mess.
