She didn't need an excuse for the full face. Her father just assumed she was bored and had nothing else to do.
Guilt gnawed at him as he shut the hotel door behind himself. He hated to keep her locked up, but what other choice did he have? She refused to listen.
Cherry watched from the peephole until he disappeared towards the end of the hallway.
She slipped into the dress as quickly as she could, double-checking that the envelope was still on the desk. The clock read 6:43. Her father had left a lot later than she expected.
If her assumptions were correct, Mia was still hosting before prom so everyone could get ready together, much to Vance's annoyance.
With one last look in the mirror, Cherry grabbed the letter and forced her way out of the hotel room.

Robin and Vance were playing a video game on the TV. Their fingers smashed into the buttons, their voices calling out over the music that'd been set to fill the noise.
"You suck! We're gonna lose!" Vance stated.
"I suck?" Robin repeated, with a glare
Both boys were practically jumping out of their seats from uncontrolled adrenaline.
Finney was sitting in the kitchen, eyes occasionally darting to the fridge. A polaroid was hung to the front of one of the doors with a magnet.
Cherry and Vance were sitting on a bench, looking like two kids whose mom was forcing them into a photo.
"Miss her?" Mia guessed, spraying herself with perfume.
"Very obviously." Finney confirmed, pulling his eyes away from the photograph.
