"Oh! A runner up" Negan laughs, pointing Lucille at Thomas, "Why?"
"I'm three, four hours past my medication, I'm feeling it already. If I don't get those I'll die. I'm only dragging this on, I'm the most logical answer. I'm only suffering until I eventually succumb to my organ failure, I'll probably be eaten alive by walkers and no one would care." Sweat droplets roll down Thomas's face, combined with tears and blood.
"What a sob story" Negan chuckles
"I'm gonna have a heart attack within an hour or two. I'll collapse and die and turn into one of those things. Either give me the damn medicine or kill me. Stop playing these games!"
Negan did his eenie-meenie-miney-mo roll call, leaving nothing but suspense for the group. Carl and Thomas make one last look at each other, one filled with sorrow and thankfulness. They watch as the bat lands on Abraham.
"Anybody moves, anybody says anything, cut the boy's other eye out and feed it to his father and then we'll start."
Sasha starts to cry as she looks over at Abraham, Rosita and Eugene crying even more as their friend had been picked for death. The man who saved Thomas's life while they were all on the road was going to be bludgeoned in front of him. He couldn't even give him a proper thank you. None of them could give him a proper goodbye.
"You can breathe. You can blink. You can cry. Hell, you're all gonna be doing that" Negan raises his bat.
Thomas wanted to scream, looking over at Rosita she had a look in her eyes that wanted to stop this madness. Within a point of a second Thomas watched Abraham put up a peace sign for Sasha as Negan raised the bat lined in spike wire.
His heart drops as he hears the thump, and watches Abraham crash to the ground. It echoed in his ears as Abraham sits back up, blood running down his head and tears dripping down his face. He heard the gasps, he watched Abraham take his final words.
"Look at that! Taking it like a champ"
"Suck... my... nuts"
Negan goes in again, quickly, the thud echoing as Rosita and Sasha cry, then Eugene joins. The thuds echo again and again and again. Thomas joins the sob party as sweat and tears control him as he starts to shake, feeling his heart take a tumble from beneath him.
"Did you hear that?" Negan chuckles, "He said 'Suck my nuts' Phew" Negan jokes about the man he'd just killed in cold blood.
Aaron, on the left of Thomas, at the end of the line, had noticed the shaking, realizing what was going to happen. It was a good four hours without his medicine. He needed it before he almost died. But he couldn't speak up. Aaron could only watch as Thomas cries and shakes, watching him mutter and beg for forgiveness. He knew even if he wasn't bludgeoned he'd have a heart attack tonight and he may not live through the dark.
