I rounded the corner and risked a glance into the darkness behind me. She was still following, wasn't she? That wasn't good, that really wasn't good...
The Airship was filled with confusing labyrinths and an insane amount of space, so it was possible that maybe I did lose her, but I wasn't sure.
My heart was beating in my ears and the beeping of MedBay wasn't helping matters. I ran towards the vitals monitor and watched as Brown's vitals went from 'alive' to 'dead.' Great. Now the only ones alive were me and White.
And that also means that I was running for absolutely nothing, because she was just chasing Brown the entire time.
I let out a sigh and sat on one of the beds. We had kicked Orange out to fall to her death and that was when White showed her true colors. A large, parasitic mouth had appeared on her stomach and a spiked tongue had shot out to impale Cyan in the visor, leaving Brown and I to run for our lives.
Which, thinking back on it now, probably wasn't the best idea. There were two of us and we could have probably pushed White out of the Airship. Now the entire crew complement of fifteen was reduced to two members, me and White.
...Who was definitely still on the prowl and would be looking for the last bit of prey to hunt.
I got to my feet and quietly started to make my way back through Electrical. Even though it had all of that stigma around it, I still treated it like any other room. After all, there were no statistics that said that people were more likely to get killed in Electrical compared to any other room.
What I wanted to do was get to Cockpit to access the Admin table and to see where was safe. Unfortunately, getting there included going through spaces which probably weren't all that secure.
I sighed. I hadn't been on the Airship long, and I didn't have the time that I did on the Skeld to find every nook and cranny and places to hide.
Not like it wouldn't stop White, because she would have the exact same idea that I had and would check Admin. Or even if she didn't, she would still find a way to find me. It always happened on the Skeld, every single time that I was exasperated or just 'no' with humanity, she would find me and make sure that I was okay.
It was sweet, but now those days were gone. She was an Impostor out for my blood.
Electrical was clear and I walked into Security. Perhaps I should check the cams, but then it was possible that she would see the blinking red light and come to Security, possibly cutting me off from getting to Admin. Although, in that case I would have different problems to worry about than finding out where White was, since the most likely result of that scenario would be my death.
So I continued on, passing by the pictures along the walls of the hall (who those people were, I had no idea, neither did I care) and through Kitchen, where the materials to make your own burger were still out. I still remembered White teasing me while I made mine, as I had absent-mindedly used lettuce instead of hamburger buns.
"It works," I had said over White's laughter. "Okay, yeah, it's silly, I know! It might even be cursed..."
"The burger lords are disappointed at you, Yellow."
"Not you, though. Right?"
"Never." White had looked at me then, and even though I couldn't see her eyes, I still knew that they were sprinkled with laughter. "Buuut if you keep insisting that Star Trek is better than Star Wars..."
The rest of that day was spent with me trying to convince her that Star Trek was indeed the superior space exploration series compared to Star Wars, which ended in another stalemate.
