After our weird interaction and Stiles showering again, we left to go meet up with Kira and Scott at the Beacon Hills zoo. Kira, apparently loves animals more than I do so we agreed to see who knew more about them while walking around and entertaining the boys.
Once we arrive, Stiles and Scott do their "bro hug" and I introduce say hi to Kira.
"Hey Kira, I'm Y/n. It's nice to formally meet you." I say
"Hi! Scott's told me so much. It's nice to formally meet you too. I'm still confused on why people said you," her voice lowers to a whisper
"Killed yourself" she finishes
"It's, a long story. I'll tell you about it some other time. For now though we see who knows more about animals." I say.
The four of us walk into the zoo and we go straight to the butterfly exhibit
"Anybody know any butterfly facts?" Stiles asks the Kira and I, Kira shakes her head but I pipe up
"I have one actually, butterflies have 1200 eyes" I say
"Anything else?" Scott asks,
"Yeah, I have another one. A group of butterflies is called a kaleidoscope" I reply picking at a small fleck of nail polish on my nail from weeks ago.
We walk through the zoo looking at the animals, making comments about them, stating facts so on and so fourth. We had gotten to the fox exhibit and Kira started going off, I mean she didn't really know that much about the other animals, not like I did at least but for foxes, I couldn't compete.
She made comments about female foxes being vixens, the phrase silver fox not being an actual thing but rather a saying for old hot dads. She mentioned the discovery of an entire new breed of fox that Charles Darwin found. I've got to say, this girl knows her stuff.
Stiles states a fact too,
"Foxes use the earths vibrations and energetic fields to hunt."
It threw me off, it felt- different. I'm not sure how but something from that point off just felt different, with the ninja guys last night and Beacon Hills becoming a beacon again.
Regardless, I brushed passed the comment and we finished walking through the zoo, leaving after buying a wolf for me and Scott at the merchandise stand. Before we left though I had Stiles hang back with Kira and I took Scott aside to tell him about Beacon Hills latest alpha.
"So, Scott. I have something else to tell you. The details aren't honestly that relevant so I'll just show you." I turned him so he was facing Kira and my back was to her, I flashed my eyes the blood red of an alpha's and let it sink in.
"Woah" was all Scott could mange to say.
"You're literally a true alpha it's not that cool. And yeah, Stiles told me about that too." I say before walking back over to the other two and saying good bye to Kira.
Stiles and I drove to the loft and he dropped me off, but before I got out I placed a kiss on his cheek and thanked him for a wonderful time as always.
"Goodbye Stiles, I love you, talk too you later!" I say closing the door
Through the rolled down window I hear Stiles say "I love you too, Y/n". I smiled and walked into the loft seeing Derek, he gives me "the look" knowing I'm in trouble.
"Shit" I mutter walking over to the couch and sitting down. I'm in for a lecture, I can feel it already.
"Listen, I get that you just "came back from the dead, but the rules from before that still apply. You know I don't care if you go to Stiles' house but you need to tell me. Especially if you're sleeping over, I had no idea where you went after you left with Stiles and you don't come home until more than 12 hours later? Y/n this is reckless behavior, there is a new threat, that's why the Oni, those ninja things are here. Chris Argent called me earlier telling me about a story from years ago during his first gun deal. The threat is called a nogitsune and it will not even hesitate to use you or kill you, especially when we don't know who it's possessing. That's why we all got what Argent calls "getting checked" during the party" Derek says to me, a new threat in Beacon Hills that we know barely anything about? How fitting.
Derek fills me in a bit more about what we do know about the nogitsune and the Oni. Like how nogitsune is a void kitsune and it's main purpose is to cause chaos and strife, and the Oni's jobs are too destroy the nogitsune in any form necessary before it gets out of hand. He even tells me about foxfire which is something that when two kitsunes collide or their powers collide it creates, or something I wasn't really listening.
"Everyone but you and Stiles know what you now know, tell Stiles the next time you see him, this thing is particularly dangerous to Stiles because he's human." Derek says getting up from the couch.
"Woah, hey! I still have questions." I say to him throwing my hands up into the air.
"Oh. Sorry, what's your question?" He asks me.
"Do you have any idea who the nogitsune could be." I question my brother.
"No, at least not at the moment but Argent says to look for changes in people's behavior and their reactions to things. And please, Y/n, text me if you have an idea of who it is, I don't want to lose my little sister again, I love you too much for that." He says walking away this time. Derek doesn't do the whole "express yourself with words" thing so him saying that was hard for him I'm guessing.
I plan to call Stiles later, I know this is something he'd want to know sooner rather than later, but right now I'm napping. I'll call him later.
