~EIGHT YEARS LATER~
 
KAREN'S POV
  Growing up I battled with  Leukemia . Doctors told mom I wouldn't be able to make it pass ten  but here I am with the help of a bone marrow transplant from an unknown donor , I was ready to turn sixteen in three days which would mean I could finally ask mom to send me to college.
    I was home schooled because of my condition and usually mom never let me go out so I barely had friends  except my dog , Ruffus. Poor fellow , he had the same restrictions like me  and I bet he hated it just like I did .
   This usual evening, I heard mom and dad downstairs  in our living room quarreling. They usually quarreled alot since mom discovered I had lukemia so I was used to it.
   I left my room and crouched on upper staircase to listen to them.

"...Andrews why do you akways make things complicated for both of us?,why do you keep ruining our perfect marriage?...,"mom yelled at dad.
"...I never wanted any this OK!,Maya you clearly know all this stuff about marriage and kids was not what I wanted !..."
   Mom broke into tears and said, "...Andrews Carter, that's enough ! I gave up my career , my dream of being top model with my face plastered all over New York's finest magazines just to be with you..."
"...That doesn't matter!..."
"...Oh so it doesn't matter, what about those three words you said  , remember!,and what of those three words you said at the altar, Andy can we stop it already  for goodness sake..."
   "...stop what Maya?,I'm done OK! I don't think I can continue to love a woman with too many insecurities and now that you know about my affair with my assistant I think you should know the truth..."
  "...What truth Andy?,That you've been sleeping with that slut for God knows how many months!..."
  "...Yes I have and at least she's now  the mother of my bilogical child unlike you who kept me in the dark deceiving me that Karen was my biological daughter..."
  "...STOP IT !you know what just leave my house! Leave !..."
    Andy walked away and climbed the stairs and then his eyes met Karen's eyes.
"...I'm sorry kid , I disappointed you...,"he managed to say as he walked by.
  Karen sat there, as tears fell from her eyes .What did he mean by she was not his biological daughter?, she thought.
   Karen walked slowly down to the living room and seeing her mother in tears , her heart ached .She could not stand the pain her mother was going through even though she still wanted to find out truth.
   Andy came back downstairs with a small briefcase and a document. He handed the document over to Maya.
"...That's our divorce papers I've signed mine, sign yours as well I'm done with this marriage...."
Maya stood up and held her chest as fresh tears rolled down her cheeks.
"...Don't tell me you had this all planned out?Andy you are a monster ! A beast from hell! How can you do this to us––to your family..."
With those words from her mouth ,Andy silently walked out on both the mother and daughter who had their hearts shattered into a million pieces.
