INTRODUCTION: so I went to a concert a few nights ago, (I'm not going to say what the exact date was, because then people could find out where I live) so it may have been one night ago, or two, maybe three or four. But that is besides the point.
The concert was for a band called 'The Offspring' which has been my favourite band since before I can remember, they have also been my dad's favourite since he was a child. My parents went to a show back in 2017 and they really enjoyed it, but me and my brother were younger and my parents were scared of a lot of things (as they should have been, rock concerts are crazy, especially for small children. so they didn't take us.
A few months ago, about 3, my parents asked me and my brother, "if you guys were to go to a concert, what band would you want to go see?" And me and Ry (my brother) looked at each other, smiled and both said the same thing at the same time, "The Offspring." I knew that Offspring was doing a show in our area, but I didn't tell anyone. I guess Ry must have known too. My parents were debating not bringing us because of the amount of pot that is usually at rock concerts, so me and Ry's hopes were lowered. A little bit later, my parents bought four tickets and told me about it, but they didn't tell Ry. His birthday was coming up, so my parents decided to surprise him with the tickets.
The day I was told, I started a countdown. It was a piece of paper with numbers on it. There was 76 days until the concert, so I wrote numbers from 1 to 76. I hid the paper so that Ry wouldn't question it. Every day, I cut off a number from the paper. Eventually, Ry's birthday came around. He was presented with tickets and was very excited, as was I.
The week of the concert came around and I was out of my mind excited. Me and my dad both were. My mom and Ry weren't as much, but they were still looking forward to it.
Then we all got sick.
Me and my dad tried to stay away from my mom and Ry (because they were the only sick ones at this time.) but we both ended up getting sick.
That week, we all stayed home and relaxed, in hopes to get better by the night of the show. And we did! (Almost)
We were all still coughing a bit on the day of the concert, but we still all went. And it was FUCKING AWESOME!
