After I'm done with all my classes for the day I go to my dorm to drop off my books before detention. I see my best friend, Pansy, already in our dorm when I get there.

"Hey Pansy." I greet her, emotionless.

"Hey Y/n, what's wrong?" She asks.

"I have detention tonight." I answer.

"What? How?" She asks again.

"Malfoy. He asked why I hate him so much and I got so mad that I yelled and slammed my tools down on the table in potions." I reply.

"He's such a bitch. I liked him better when we were all friends." She states.

Oh yeah. One thing I forgot to mention. Before I was kidnapped, me, Malfoy, Pansy, Blaise, Mattheo, and Theo were all best friends. The group split up after what happened. Draco and Blaise are still best friends, me and Pansy are still best friends, and Theo and Mattheo kinda stopped talking to us.

"Yeah, those were the good old days. Now we all fucking hate each other. I really thought I could trust him and I thought we had a special connection. I guess not. Oh well." I claim.

A wave of silence comes over the whole dorm.

"Anyways, I gotta go. See you later Pans." I say.

"See you later." She responds as I walk out the door.

Once I get to Snape's classroom, I see others in there. Not many that I know, a few Gryffindors, a couple Ravenclaws, and- shit. Malfoy. How did he even get here. He looks at me and gives me a smirk. God I hate him. I go sit down far away from him. Snape walks in and goes to the front of the classroom.

"Since you all seem to not want to behave, you will be cleaning this classroom. I will be back in an hour and it better be spotless. I also better not hear any noise coming from this room, or you all have detention again for a week." Snape directs in his normal, cold tone.

Snape waves his wand and makes some cleaning supplies appear and then leaves the room. Some of the students get up and start grabbing supplies. I get up, grab the broom, and start to sweep. I feel someone come up next to me. I don't have to look up to know who it is.

"Piss off, Malfoy." I whisper, not wanting to get in trouble for talking.

"I just wanted to finish the conversation we were having earlier." He whispers back.

I ignore him an continue sweeping.

"Why do you hate me so much?" He asks.

I stop sweeping and look up at him.

"You really want to know." I question.

He nods.

"Because, we were best friends. I thought we had the potential to be more, but you watched day after day as Voldemort scanned my brain to find any piece of information he could get on my brother. You saw the pain I was in and you didn't care. You ignored me and watched me suffer, you asshole. And you have the nerve to ask me why I hate you so much." I state.

He doesn't have a smirk or amused face like he usually does when he hears one's struggles. He's hurt, and he doesn't have to say a word for me to know. I don't need to read his mind to know what he is thinking. He regrets it. Our eyes stay locked.

"I do...I do regret it." He claims, holding back tears.

"Well, it's a little late for that now." I reply, going back to sweeping.

I hear him walk off, but I don't look up to see if he left or not. When the time comes, Snape comes back to see his classroom spotless, like he asked us to have it.

"You all are to go straight to your dorms. No funny business on the way back." He demands.

We all walk out of the door, I notice that Draco was gone. I didn't care enough to bother wondering where he went. As I'm walking to my dorm, I feel a pair of cold hands pull me into a supply closet. It's dark, but the light turns on revealing sad Draco. Tears rolling down his face, his eyes red and puffy.

"I'm sorry Y/n. I really am. What you said back there...I thought we had potential to be more as well." Draco states.

I don't bother feeling empathetic towards him. This must be a joke.

"It's not a joke Y/n. I really am sorry." He sniffles.

"Okay, sure. I'll play along. Why did you do it?" I ask.

He looks at me and then backs away.

"You wouldn't understand." He mutters under his breath and starts to sob.

"I wouldn't understand what?" I ask again, walking up to him.

"I can't tell you." He says.

"Why?" I question.

"He'll kill us both." He responds.

"Voldemort?" I ask.

"Yes." He answers.

I have a hunch on what he is talking about. I grab his left arm and raise his sleeve. A dark mark. Draco then snatches is arm back and rolls his sleeve back down.

"I knew it." I claim.

"He told me that if I didn't help him kidnap and get information out of you that he would kill you in front of all of your friends...in front of me." He whispers, holding back more tears.

I am silent. So he was protecting me? I could tell Draco was reading my mind, but he didn't say anything.

"Who else knows?" I ask.

"No one." He replies.

I don't know how to take this information. One thing was sure though, in that moment I felt more connected to Draco than ever. I hug him and I could tell he was surprised, but he hugged my back quickly. We just stayed like that for a while. When we stopped hugging, we stared at each other for a moment. Then he pulled me closer to him and our lips collided. My heart skipped a beat. He pulled back.

"I've always wanted to do that." He says and we both laugh.

We stare at each other again for a moment.

"I better get back to my dorm." I claim, breaking the silence.

"Yeah, me too. See you tomorrow." He responds.

"Yep, bye." I reply.

We both go our separate ways, him going to the boys side and me going to the girls side. All I could think about was the kiss. When I got to my dorm, I thought about telling Pansy, but then I realized it's probably better if I keep it to myself. I then put on pjs and go to sleep.
