"Dani, run!" My mother reaches for my hand, but pulls away. "Dani, run!" She repeats again, with more urgency. She's crying now, the streaks running the elaborate makeup from the previous day. "DANI!" She screams, running towards the jagged outcropping I'm perched on. She wasn't supposed to see me. As I move backwards, my back rests against a sharp object behind me. As I peer behind me, the first feeling is relief and gratitude. Then it quickly turns into disbelief and shock as a sharp pain pierces my being and into my soul. I scream, praying that the pain will end.
