She died. Her last breath was a feeling she would never forget. It was rigged as she kept falling, her lungs trying their hardest to breathe, but it was overlapped by her screaming. She heard the shouts of those around her and the pounding footsteps of those that tried to help her. She could feel herself slowly lose consciousness after she hit the ground. It was excruciating for those couple of minutes as her body slowly turned cold.

The miserable ache her entire body experienced as she landed face-first. And the person who had heartlessly shoved her from the balcony's second floor. It all hurt. The betrayal, the argument, and the fall. How could she have done this? How could she have caused pushed her with such ease? Why did she not shout alongside her servants that could not do anything but watch the scene unfolding right in front of them?

The Duchess did not have any answers. She could only die without ever getting them. At least, that is what she assumed.

Duchess Cho Miyeon woke up, lying on her bed covered in a cold sweat. She sat up and scratched at her throat, wondering if she was imagining things, wondering if she really was breathing. "I am alive?" the Duchess asked after being calmed down by her father that comforted her with his hands on her shoulders. 'Was it a dream?' she thought, looking around the room in a panic. 'Or did I somehow survive?'

"Are you alright, child?"

The Duchess could only breathe heavily, her hands balled in fists, as she tried to come to her senses. She could not tell the difference between reality and fiction. The pain she had felt, both the physical and the betrayal, it was all real. But then she saw her father that looked lifeless. He was a man that had once been a heavy size but now had shrunken to such a degree. Former Duke Cho Chinhae was different from her typical cold father. He had warm eyes which came from an ill-looking father that was concerned for his daughter.

Was she in a coma this entire time? For how long?

"F-Father, how long have I been unconscious?" the Duchess asked as her breathing began regularizing. "What are you talking about?" the former Duke questioned, giving her a strange look. "You fell asleep last night and just now woke up," the former Duke paused as he saw his daughter's scrunched face. "You missed the appointment and I had to come to find you, but when I came, you were squirming in bed and shouting."
