Picture is Chloe King.

Lately my mind has been working overtime and I instantly formed a huge headache.

Chloe was still bickering with Alpha Jace as I held my hands to my temples and began massaging them. I think I was having a panic attack. My breathing became heavy and my knees were becoming weak.

What the hell is happening around here?! Trent is dead! Isabelle has a werewolf Beta boyfriend! The Lunar Blood Pack is living in my home town and now I'm witnessing the lethal Alpha fight with his little sister!

"Are you alright Jade?" Jace asks me, concerned. He now has Chloe in his arms, holding her in a tight grip. He steps closer to me. I step away from him and slowly raise my hands as if telling him not to hurt me.

"Look, just leave me alone ok? We can just pretend that you didn't just come out of the woods and that your sister didn't say she is from the Lunar Blood Pack. Let's pretend that none of this happened."

"What are you talking about Jade?" Jace asks me, making a confused face.

"I know you're a werewolf. I know they exist along with other creatures. So don't act dumb." Yea, that was a stupid thing to say.

Jace drops Chloe, who lands on her feet and runs into the woods, and stalks over to me. I turn to run but he catches me before I get more than 5 feet away.

"Don't call me dumb Jade," Jace growls as he grabs my shoulders and makes me face him.

How dare he touch me?! I don't even know this guy and he's acting as if he owns me. Telling me what to do!

Jace's eyes have shifted into an onyx black. Shit, I've angered his inner wolf. And for some reason, I'm not terrified of him.

As he's touching me, holding me in his grip, I feel safe and protected. His presence is calming me. My fast beating heart starts to slow to a normal rhythm as I look at Jace. I relax in his hands.

Jace seems to sense me relax and hears my heart slow. I always thought that was cool, how werewolves have amazing hearing abilities.

His eyes turn a heart melting blue when he looks at me. I think back to my studies of learning to become a Hunter. The textbook on werewolves had so much information that I barely remember most of it. I do remember that there was something said about the changing of eye colors, that they had a certain meaning. I will have to look at that when I get home. I will also have to look at the section of the textbook that instructs me how to kill a very strong and powerful Alpha.

"Sorry," Jace let's me go and without saying another word, walks back into the woods.

***********

When I return home I am bombarded with questions by my mother.

"Where have you been? It's 8:30! Why didn't you tell me you were leaving, my gosh you are just like Kyle aren't you?"

Well mother, I don't remember a time I threw a glass vase at my father's head, but I guess I'm just like Kyle. Hah, I love my sarcastic thoughts.

"Mom, I'm tired. I've had a long day, can I just go to bed and we can talk about this tomorrow?" I didn't wait for her to answer, I was already half way up the stairs.

"Jade?" I hear a voice behind me call out. Ugh, can't I just be left alone? I recognize the voice to be Tanner. I turn around and look at him. He is shirtless, or course. Typical guy. "You alright?" Tanner asks me. He crosses his arms and raises an eyebrow.

"Yep, fine. Just dandy." I am not in the mood for any flirting right now. I'm silently pleading with him to end the conversation so I can go look at my werewolf textbook. I need to refresh my memory on the Lunar Blood Pack. It's not surprising that they have their own chapter in the book.

"Well alright. You know you can talk to me if you need to right?"

"Yes, I know. You tell me everyday. But honestly Tanner, I'm fine. Don't worry about me," I give him a soft smile, turn around and walk down the hallway to my room. Once I get to the door I look at Izzy's room across from mine and hear her music playing. It's metal music, so she's in a bad mood. I decide against going to talk to her.

In my room I look for my werewolf book on my bookshelf. I find it and open it. One of the sections is about the changing of eye colors. I start reading.

Black Eyes:
When a werewolf's eyes change from their original color to a dark black, that shows that the inner wolf feels threatened or angry.

Okay, I knew that. I kept reading.

Red Eyes:
Red eyed wolves are widely known for being associated with rogues. If you come in contact with a werewolf with red eyes, follow these steps to protect yourself and others around you:...

Knew that already, no need to read it again.

Yellow Eyes:
Yellow eyes are standard for any inner wolf. If a wolf is about to take over the human, their eyes will most likely turn yellow...

Whatever. I skimmed through the rest of the eye colors until I found blue.

Blue Eyes:
Werewolves that show blue eyes at random times show a sign of love.

Love? Does that mean Jace loves me? I chuckle and keep reading.

Most times a wolf's eyes change blue are when they are around loved ones, but more commonly when they are the presence of there mate...

Wait! What? My eyes widen at the words just read. I reread the passage, my mouth agape. Mate!?

I think back to the way Manny's eyes turned blue when he looked at Isabelle. I recall Isabelle saying that she was Manny's mate.

Oh my gosh! I'm the mate of a werewolf! An Alpha! The Lunar Blood Pack's Alpha!

I slam the textbook shut and throw it across the room. It hit the wall, leaving a hole behind as it crashed to the floor.

I get up from my bed and put shoes on. Its 10:00 as I walk out the front door. As I'm leaving I grab the first weapon I see. The crossbow hanging on the wall above the stairs. I need to kill something, hunt something, and I don't care what it is.

As I'm running through the woods I'm thinking that if I was a werewolf, my natural blue eyes would be shifting to black.
