Waking up
________________________________________

(No one's POV)

You passed out from drinking the blood of the serpents; was the pain you felt worth it in the end? You wake up to the calm voice of Viper checking in on you. (Would this be a good moment to ask your new boss a little bit about herself?)

______________________________________

(Y/N POV)

I open my eyes to see myself laying down in my bed. My body feels weak; I'm having a difficult time talking, swallowing, and breathing. What the hell did I drink? And why was it so painful? It felt like acid was going through my entire body. The door to my room opens up, and in comes Viper with a plate of food and a glass of water.

Viper: Look who's awake How do you feel? Anything super painful or not feeling right?

(Viper asks as she sets the food and water down before taking a seat.)

"I could be better; my throat really hurts, and my chest feels tight, making it hard to breathe."

Viper: That does sound normal; it will take maybe 10 hours for your body to be better. Don't try to move too much; the blood is working its way through your veins, and I don't want you to die on me.

"W-what did I drink exactly?"

Viper: I may call it "blood," but really it's a rare snake venom that can do all sorts of things to the body. If you take a sip, it will do what your body is feeling right now-it will kill you. Here, drink some water; it will help your throat feel somewhat better.

(Viper holds a cup of water to your lips and helps you drink some. (The feeling of the cold water makes your throat feel so much better, making it easier to talk.)

"Can I ask you something, boss?"

Viper: It depends on the question.

"Why are your eyes like that?"

Viper: You think they look cool; maybe they are just contact lenses. Everyone has heard rumors about what they are. I will say these are my real eyes. I don't wear contacts or anything like that.

"Then what happened, why are they like that?"

Viper: It's from my past; it's what helped make me into the woman you see before you. I was abused when I was little, leaving me with deformities like my eyes, among other things. That's all I had to say about it; it's part of my past that pushes me to continue taking down other criminals. So that no child will have to go through what I and so many other children went through-many of them didn't make it-

(The room gets quiet and uneasy, not meaning to make Viper uncomfortable or relive her traumatic experience.)

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable. I shouldn't have asked you."

Viper: (gives a little laugh) You were bound to ask me eventually or ask someone else in the gang. It's my past; I can't change what happened; just what I do now matters more. I choose to take what happened to me and make myself stronger. I never want to be so weak that people take advantage of me like that again.

"I knew there was a reason I liked your gang above all others."

Viper: What do you mean?

"Your gang stands for something meaningful; it's not just about money or power; you actually care about people."

Viper: We may do those things, but I'm just as bad as the others. I still kill, and I still do things that one day I will answer for. Please don't idolize me; I don't deserve it. Now enough of this fluffy talk, eat your food and drink your water, you will need it. I expect you to reach your full potential.

"Yes boss, I won't let you down. I promise."

(No one's POV)

(Viper leaves your room and heads to her office for some alone time. In her office, Viper looks at herself in a mirror, and the face that looks back at her is one that she can't stand. All the viper sees is an abomination, something that shouldn't even exist, like the glowing snake eyes of a killer. Viper throws the mirror at a brick wall, shattering it, not wanting to look at herself anymore.

I enjoy going into a little bit of Viper's history and why she is the way she is. I didn't want to give everything away, but I plan on writing more about her past trauma later on.
