Falling Stars

She stares up at the sky

Getting lost inside

She contemplates her life

Kind of strange

In a moment it could all be lost

To a knife

On her back she lays

Gazing up at the stars

Watching them, they twinkle in her eyes

She drags the blade

And the lights above blur

As she cries

Not because the breaking of skin

But because of the pain

That she has always held within

She keeps it inside

Can't let the world see

Always pretending to be

Happy

She fakes a smile

But it's just a disguise

To mask everything

That she has to hide

She seeks attention

From those who try to get close

But it's only to replace

Being ignored at home

She tries so hard

To open her heart

But it's difficult

After being lost in the dark

Even the brightest of lights

Can't fully help

It can't banish the shadows completely

She's stubborn that's true

As adamant as the stars above

That continue to shine

She tries her best to stand tall

But at times, she just can't fight

And even stars in space

Will sometimes fall
