It was official. I was the last one. The last person on all of Earth. When it had started to get bad we all got together. You are probably wondering who we are. We are the last people on Earth. Well we were now it is just me because they have all died. I know I will probably die soon too but I'm trying to make the best of the little time that I have left. My name is Amy, I am 14 years old and I am the last person on Earth.
How it came to be this way is a long story but I have all the time in the world, literally. It all started when the plague spread. It started out as only a few people and the doctors were helping everybody and it started to go away and it was forgotten for many years but then it spread like wildfire. This sickness was called Ebola. It killed almost everyone that caught it. With all the doctors that knew about how to cure it gone there was no way to keep from being sick. Some very lucky people were immune to this deadly sickness and my family and I were some of them.
People hated us because while they were getting sick and dying we were healthy and couldn't catch the disease. We had to go into hiding and so did all the other people that were immune. I was just two years old at the time and we stayed there for a decade. When we came out there were only us and the other people that were immune. All the others had died one way or another. We all came together like I said before and started our own little city.
Our little city started out all great it was like our own little utopia. We were all happy to be out of hiding and to not be hated against because we couldn't get the plague.Everything was good for about a year, but then we started to run out of food and other resources. The others started fighting and my father got killed. Then it was just my mom, my brother, and me. I was so shocked that he had been killed I just couldn't speak. I didn't understand why they had killed him and not just asked us for some food because we would have given them some of the little food we had.
So me and my family eventually moved on and continued living our lives. Others were killed because of the lack of resources. After a couple of months it was just what was left of my family and my friend that I had made during the year when we lived in our own happy bubble, and her mom.
There were very few of us left and we all acted like family and helped each other out. My mom got very ill and we tried to help her but she just got worse and worse as time went on. Eventually she passed on, but we were almost happy for her because we didn't want her to suffer any more.
We moved in with my friend because now it was just me and my little brother. We grieved our mom while my friend and her mom worked and worked to keep us healthy and fed. I wasn't as appreciative of them at the time as I should have but now I know that I owe them my life.
Weeks pass and my brother and I are up and working again. We think of the life that we had before the plague and what keeps us motivated is that we have to live so that our families memories will not be lost.
"Mom can I please get the IPhone 21! It isn't even that expensive!" I ask. "No honey you just got your IPhone 20 a year ago." I sigh and wish that I could have that phone.
I snap back into focus after having a flashback about when life was much simpler and I could just wave my finger and get pretty much whatever I wanted. At that time I wished that I could just go back home and be with my entire family and not have to work so hard for everything that I wanted.
