Jane looked back at the leathery book laying in her lap.
She'd almost forgotten about it for a moment.

At the bottom of the page Rule No.4 was noted down

Rule No.4
all contestants will have to present the reasons as to why they should be voted as winners of the game in the form of a representative musical performance.

directly underneath it Karnak had noted another thing

Tip No.3
I heard you're an amazing singer Jane...use your voice to your advantage and shine :))

Jane couldn't help herself but to giggle in excitement. Singing! Could it get any easier for her?
She didnt just like singing like the other choir members...no she LOVED it. Singing had always been her favourite thing to do. And now she'd be able to win a game of life and death with it.

Some doubt still remained in her mind though, she knew how great ocean was at catching the audience with the rhythm in her songs. And mischa had probably the best singing voice she'd ever heard in a man. Still...she would definitly win this.

Turning to the last page she couldn't find another rule. Instead what she found turned out to be another one of karnaks tips. Again written with this hasty and kind of synthetic but in its own way beautiful handwriting of his.

Tip No.4
Don't forget to enjoy your ride...

Just as she closed the Book the bus came to a sudden halt.

''all exit! We're at the fair'' the bus driver yelled

Jane Doe picked up her backpack from the floor and started to wander out of the bus.

''Can we please go and ride the cyclone first?'' Constance loudly exclaimed.

Jane agreed knowing she's just signed her own death sentence'' Yes please!''

She couldn't repress a bright smile forming on her face.

On her way through the fair jane tried to come up with a plan on how to trick the other choir members.

She wasn't that sure that the others would actually choose her considering how little they seemed to like her.

"Maybe if i can disguise myself...
Make them forget me..."

Jane decided it wouldn’t harm anyone if she tried asking the book.
It felt like a weird thought to think.
But why not? Why shouldn't a book that magically knows so much about her also respond to her questions.

She tapped on mischas shoulder
"Can you borrow me a pen please? I'll give it back later i promise"
"What do i care take it" the ukrainian replied in a douchey tone.

Oh how she hated him. He always acted like he was the toughest guy on the planet.
And how stupid he was ! He seemed like the most idiotic self loving prick out there.
Luckily if her plan succeeded he too would be dead and finally paying for how much of an asshole he's been to her.

With a slightly shaky hand she set the top of the pen on the empty space on the last page.

How should she formulate her question though?
She didn't want to risk being tricked by this mysterious karnak guy.
Not like he had seemed like a threat to her so far. But she's read about that kind of scenario far too often to not be cautious:
A naive kid asking a seemingly friendly entity only for it to use loopholes in the questions to betray the kid and make it do cruel things to others.

"How can I-" she started
"No no no no that sounds too much like a google search"
"Maybe this works"

In clear green letters she wrote on the wove paper: "Dear karnak, is there a way for me to make my fellow contestants forget my existence?"

She closed the book as she was scared of karnak's response. Still, her curiosity overwhelmed her.
Jane needed to check. Maybe, she hoped karnak wouldn't even answer her question.
As she opened the book, slowly turning the pages the glowing red letters already shone through.

Tip No.5
Of course there is a way my dear. Though it does hold it's risks. In the game, your fellow contestants can only recognise each other through their faces.
You can avoid being recognised by them if you die without your head.

Sounds easy. But how could she guarantee that she and only she lost her head?

There had to be a rule to prevent something like that...

Standing in line, she saw the roller coaster safety advice flyer. She grabbed one and looked at the supposed life saving rules.

"How funny" she thought "it's rule No.6"

Now that she knew what she had to do Jane tried to prepare for her impending demise.

As she sat down in the roller coaster's seat next to ricky she took a deep breath looking at the world around her.
This would be the place she died.

"There are definitly worse places to die"
She thought to herself
"But for now I prefer living"

She reached into her backpack one last time pulling her comfort doll she's had ever since she was a child out of it.

Then she reached into her pocket pulling out her headphones.
"Highway to hell" started playing on maximum volume.
Jane chuckled
She just couldn't resist the irony.
