Seven Months Later...
Genevieve's POV
The last seven months has been awesome and I can't complain. Honestly, there's been no drama or any other unnecessary things, but the one thing that I was mostly excited about was Christmas, which was just one week away. This year, Michael and I are honored to be hosting both sides of the family. I can't wait to see Grandma and all of my cousins.
Because I took the challenge of hosting everyone, that means more stress for me and it's really hard getting in the Christmas spirit because I want everything to look perfect. Michael and I decided to make it a tradition of decorating the Christmas tree on Christmas Eve. So we had all the ornaments, the big star, and most of the gifts. Now all we had to do was to wrap the gifts up for more than 30 people. As simple as it sounds, I know that it will not be and it kills me to even think about it. I want every detail to be perfect because Angela Jackson will be there. Yes Michael's mom and I haven't had any open differences, but every time I'm around her, I feel the negative energy and her judgmental eyes watching my every move, waiting for me to just slip up. I want to prove her wrong about me.
Its past midnight and I still can't sleep. I'm not really thinking about anything, my mind is blank. I just feel empty like I'm missing something but I have no idea what. I got out of the bed, wore my slippers and headed down stairs to watch TV so that I wouldn't disturb Michael. Sitting comfortably on the couch, I felt warm arms on my shoulder. I touched his hands as I looked up at him, he walked around and placed my legs on his. I looked at him, "Did I wake you up?"
He shook his head no, "I woke up and turned around to find my wife missing so I came down stairs to look for her."
"Well you found me."
"Indeed. Why are you up?"
"I don't know, I just can't sleep," I said rubbing my temple.
"Ok, we can just sit here until you fall asleep." I nodded and switched position so my head could be on his lap.
I don't remember falling asleep, but I woke up to one of the worst headaches of all time. My head was pounding so bad that it felt as if someone was taking a hammer and hitting it. As much as I wanted to stay in bed and sleep the whole day, I couldn't. I had to go around the whole house and make sure everything was all clean and fully decorated. Just before my feet could touch the carpet, my phone rung. "Hello," I answered tiredly.
"Well hello there," the familiar voice said. My mind couldn't match the voice to a face.
"Hi," I said back.
"Seems like someone forgot about old Greg here.
"Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry. You sound so different. "
"Well, distance would do that to you. But how are you?"
"I am doing great, just tired that's all. Wow it's been almost seven months since we last spoke. How are you?"
We spoke for another 30 minutes and I ended up inviting him for the Christmas party. Great, now it's 31 people. Greg traveled abroad late June to handle some business, so we lost communication but he was on his way flying back when he called me. I finally gained enough strength to go and freshen up, the headache was still there.
With wet hair and a towel around me, I went to the kitchen and saw a little note, 'Hi beautiful, get ready by 6, I'm taking you out' - MDJ
