Today was an exciting day to say the least.I had to check for tons of errors in my junior's codes, run a meeting with the investors for a new project involving AI ,then rush home to get ready for the wedding of a family friend and do you know what the funny part is? I had a crush on the groom when we were in high school and now I am getting ready in full swing for the wedding of the same guy that I had a crush on years ago.But that's what life is, its funny, dramatic and full of twists and turns just like a Bollywood movie.

Getting ready in a pastel pink lehenga, I rushed towards the car in which papa was sitting on the drivers seat-honking(as a signal for me to come fast) and made myself comfortable on the backseat along with my younger sister. Mumma was already taking up her passenger princess seat besides papa.

It was a 45 minutes ride to the Sehgal mansion, where the wedding was to be held and during the whole time, my mind was clouded by thoughts-his thoughts to be precise. All the memories of high school came hitting like a truck, all the fake scenarios I had imagined about him and me before going to bed came rushing to my mind, all his snarky and witty comments, his smile, his frustrated face when he could not solve the problems in exams and his relieved face when I helped him answer the question sneakily without getting caught by the invigilator, him always being there with friends through thick and thin, him playing basketball in the school court, his laughter, everything started playing in my mind like a film and a smile played on my lips remembering the old fond memories and the feelings silly young me had started developing for him.

A shiny bright house decorated with fairy lights all around broke me out of my reverie as I came back to reality. All those silly fake scenerios in my head were meant to be fake. Since the reality was far more opposite. He was here getting married to the love of this life and I was here just as a guest, a trespasser in his life just like all those years in the past.

With those thoughts in mind, we reached the wedding hall. But the scene that played infornt of me was not what I had imagined, it was chaos everywhere, some people were freting, some angry, some trying to dial phone numbers and some devastated-his parents to be precise. Looking towards the stage, I saw him sitting while holding his head in deep thoughts. My eyes welled up  a bit at the scene in front of me.

Just then his mother-Aarti Sehgal saw my mumma - Sheetal Kapoor and said,"Guneet has ran away from the wedding without any information or even a note and we would not let our son marry such a girl even if she comes back in the future. She didn't even think once before leaving us and her parents to face the society. "
At the mention of her parents, I wiped my head towards her parents who had their heads bowed down in shame. I felt bad for them as it wasn't their fault and nor had anybody from the Sehgal family pointed them guilty. They were felling ashamed on their daughter's behalf. It was a very sorry sight to witness.

What happened next was what I could never fanthom. Divyansh came towards his mother and said, "I will get married today mumma. You wanted me to get married to  girl of you choice so be it. Anyways, I had tried to get married to the girl of my choice and it all ended in vain. So, you just name a  girl and I will get married to her."

I was shocked beyond words. How would someone who loved Guneet to death and would never even spare a glance to any other female species in her presence agree to marry someone in the blink of an eye? I know it was hard to digest but I guess that's what betrayal does to people.

So here's the first chapter of ek din aap. Hope you all like it. Any sort of advise is always welcome. Have a nice day!
Yours,
Annieisha
