“How much longer is this going to take!” cried the girl.
“Not much,” said the father, “stop complaining, we are almost there.”
The girl watched as the woods went past them, there was a creepy air to it, even in bright daylight, it had a suffocating, isolated feeling.
As they were ascending the cold, foggy mountain, between two trees, she could have sworn
she saw something move, a shadow, a kind of presence with a humming darkness around it.Something about the place did not seem right from the very start. And they drove along, the presence following them the whole time as if waiting for something.

“Unload your stuff out of the car everyone!” said the mother.
The darkness had left, but being near this house made her feel it close to her again, she turned back and saw a pale woman standing right behind her with huge creepy eyes and black hair
looking at her, but before she could open her mouth, the woman exclaimed-
“Welcome! I must have frightened you - I can tell by the look of your eyes, well, I didn't mean to, I live in this house with my family and take care of it, anything you need just ask me.” The pale
woman took the bag and left.
The house had a huge garden with a fountain in the front, and woods behind it. It was situated at the base of the mountain, with the sea next to it. The gray water made the house seem even
more isolated from the world , it was bordered by cliffs and sharp rocks and the waves were almost brutal.
The girl just stood there for a minute waiting for the darkness to leave, then she went into the house. The floor was covered with a velvet carpet and there was a huge spiral staircase leading
upstairs, on the right was the kitchen and dining room covered with marble and on the left was the living room.The walls were gray in color with huge velvet curtained windows looking out into the beach.
The woman showed them to their rooms, one for the girl, one for her parents. The girl’s room
had a huge bed which looked ancient and a huge window with a view of the sea.( which made
the room actually darker.), and a dressing table.

“Hey, so how long are we staying here?”asked the girl
“Ten days or so,” said the father. “To be honest with you, I don't want to stay here much longer, it
has got something creepy about it.”
“You feel it too!” cried the girl “I thought it was just me!”
“So, you also saw the pool?” asked the mother.
“What pool?”
“The one on the third floor” said the father” I wanted to talk to the woman who lives here, the
caretaker, but there is something off about her.”
The girl, who was only interested in the topic about the pool, asked “Can I go see it now?”
“Well, you could, but it might scare you, just be safe, okay, first finish dinner.” said the mother.
The girl ascended a narrow flight of stairs to the third floor. It was an open area with a huge square hole, which was the pool. She could hear the sound of mice. She turned on a light switch
and looked inside, her mouth flung open and she covered her nose when she saw a dead cut open deer with mice chewing off the flesh.
She immediately switched off the light and ran downstairs, she bumped into the pale woman
(whose name she didn't know).
“So, you saw the deer?,” the pale woman said with a hint of threat in her voice, or was she just
imagining it?
“Yes” replied the girl
“Relax, I will make sure it’s removed in a few days.” the pale woman said, then just as she turned to leave, a little boy ran out of the room next to the stairs and hugged the pale woman.
“I had a bad dream,” said the little boy.
“Hey, it’s going to be okay” the pale woman consoled the boy, she looked at the girl and said,
“My son, please excuse me, he has bad dreams sometimes.”
“Okay, I didn't know you had a son.”said the girl, but then again, she knew nothing about this woman. That feeling of darkness was now overwhelming, she had to get away from this woman
“I think I’ll go to bed, now” she said and left before this short yet weird conversation could continue any further.

‘Lying in bed, just lying in bed, with no darkness following me”-the girl tried to convince herself, but it just didn't work, the darkness and unease created by it did not leave her, like the sound of
the mice chewing the deer, it just wouldn't leave her, it was like a fly stuck in her brain. It was starting to scare her.
Just then there was a thud against the window, another thud, she jerked up and ran to the window, she heard a scream, that of a little boy. She was too scared to move when she saw a
dark figure coming out of the woods- It was floating. Even in her fear, she could see the pale skin and long claws of the creature. She could hear a hum and could smell a horrible smell of rotting fish.
It came closer, closer and it was so close she could see its bright red eyes and plastered on its face was a huge ,creepy and nauseating grin,with blood covered pointed teeth on it.
The girl snapped out of her fear and shock and almost screamed when she heard the door to her room opening with a creaking noise.
“I see you have met my husband,he lives in the woods, he cannot enter the house when guests
are here for obvious reasons, he is a vampire. He comes a few nights to visit, like tonight.” said the pale woman.
The girl’s heart was beating at a horribly rapid pace.
The pale woman went to her window and opened it before the girl could do anything. The smell
of rotting fish increased to such an extent that she had to cover her mouth. She was softly sobbing, she tried to scream for her parents but all that came out was a raspy, panic filled whisper.
The vampire entered the room and the pale woman hugged him. The vampire looked at least three feet taller than the pale women, it was as if he was growing every second, for he kept becoming taller and taller.
They both turned to look at the panic filled girl in the corner of the room, they advanced towards
her and looked her in the eye, now both, the pale woman and the vampire had red eyes and just stared at her.
She was not able to do anything at this point, she just fainted.

“I know she would like living with us , we are going to give her luxury.”The voice sounded as if they were coming from underwater, but no, she was moving, she was in a car.
“Make sure your sister is safe, tell us when she wakes up.”
“Sister?! what is going on, where am I” said the girl, in a surprisingly calm voice.
“You are with us.”
‘-The pale woman’ thought the girl ‘The vampire! Was that a dream? No! Why am I here, where
are my parents?’
-All these thoughts were overwhelming her.
“Where are my parents!” she screamed
“Nobody knows” said the boy
She felt as if she was going to faint again.
“We do not know,” said the pale woman, “They were not there when you fainted last night, we
checked.” There was a creepy smile on her face, one that scared the girl the most.
“So, we took you in with us”
“And you must be thankful for that” This voice was a man’s , “I didn't mean to scare you last
night, I’m sorry if I did.”
“You are now one of us, We are going to take good care of you.” They all said to the girl in unison.
