It Hurts

It had been 8 months since the war with All For One had concluded. Shigaraki had been defeated, the League shut down and detained. They had all lost something or someone. It hadn't been an easy rehabilitation for anyone, nor the city. So much damage had been done and the energy in Japan hadn't felt the same since. Despite everyone trying to carry on with some sense of new normal. Keigo Takami for one had been the face of this new normal with Endeavor. They had done a decent job at creating rebuilding programs and donating enough money for businesses to go back to functioning. It hadn't been easy at all, and there were some animosity from citizens after learning about Endeavor's history with his family. The villain Dabi, also known as Touya Todoroki, also known as Keigo's ex boyfriend, was in prison.

Keigo assumed they were exes now anyway. Touya had seen him kill Twice. And then Touya had tried to kill him in revenge. That had to be the most honest break up if he'd ever seen one right? It all sucked. They obviously hadn't spoken since the whole ordeal, Shoto nearly took Touya out too. It was a miracle they were even able to detain him, Endeavor had requested they keep him alive.

Currently Keigo was on a patrol with Endeavor. Small talk was difficult between the two of them since everything had come to light.

"How do the new wings feel?" Endeavor choked out between awkward silence.

"fine." Hawks lied. In all reality, they hurt like hell. He was still in physical therapy trying to adjust to the prosthetic wings. Luckily with new technology, they were able to wire each feather to a nerve in his body, so he had the ability to feel and sense each feather like his quirk once could. However, it wasn't the same. His nerves had been severely damaged in the flames, while he could control the faux feathers, he couldn't hear or sense through them like he could with his real ones. Thankfully, a very few of his feathers had grown back and he could at least use those on stealth missions if needed, though his paranoia of losing the last remaining real feathers he had, haunted him and kept him cautious with doing so.

"Have you been able to fly yet?" Endeavor questioned cautiously. Talking about his wings were a touchy subject.

"Not yet."

While he had shown much success in releasing the faux feathers and functioning well with those, the pain was still too unbearable to attempt flight. He could travel upwards in short distances but full flight was too much.

"I'm sorry. I'm sure you'll get there soon." Endeavor tried to be understanding. Hawks just nodded in response.

"He's getting better. If you've been wondering" Endeavor said lowly.

Dabi. Another sensitive subject. This guy was really trying him today.

"...Why are we talking about all of this?" Hawks responded coldly.

"..I-I'm just trying. Things have been distant between us since everything happened. What else would you rather me do?" Endeavor asked genuinely.

"Honestly? Nothing. Just leave it alone." Hawks said harshly as his walking picked up in pace. Oh how he missed the days where he could storm off in flight.

"hawks.. wait." Endeavors efforts to bring the winged hero back to his speed were failed. Hawks stormed off down the street back to his agency.

Once Hawks was back in the comfort of his office, he locked the door and put the sign that read 'in a meeting' up so that his staff wouldn't try to come in. He face planted onto the couch in his office, sighing out. This sucked.

Everything sucked.

Suddenly he felt a sharp pain shoot up his spine, which caused him to curl into himself.
