"This... loud noise again... ugh. No- no... no NO NO... FUCK! I hate this."
Tyler screams to himself, on his own mind, as he's having once again the same nightmare he does every. Single. Night. His fingers trembling underwater, his backs arching.
"Water... the reef... black sand all over the view... the close-up moon, all again..."
The teenager recites, as he's seeing the same things once again.
"How could I forg— here we go... now the buzzing noise onto me waking u—"
Tyler wakes up, panting, as he emerges from the tub he calls a bed. He leans both arms on the edges of the tub, closing his eyes as he takes a deep breath. Slowly opening his eyes, he looks down at his hands.
"Fingers still scaly... great, I'm still a fish."
Tyler grunts, slowly standing up only to stare down at his feet. For once, he's glad for not being like his father... half fish, literally. Getting out of the tub, Tyler bends his arm to grab the towel on the rack beside the tub, only to use it to dry himself, including his long hair. Putting it back on the rack, the teenager is now heading towards the sink to brush his teeth, still having his view slightly blurred. While he went to look at himself in the mirror while brushing his teeth, Tyler notices black gloves and earmuffs with a note under it.
"To my beloved son. I know all of this must be hard to deal with on your own... but mom's trying her best. Dad too. Breakfast is in the fridge, beside your school lunch. Have a great day sweetie, mom loves you."
Tyler gives it a goofy smile.
"Such a dork. Love you too, mum."
He thinks to himself before finishing brushing his teeth, going to use the toilet then take a shower. After all of that, he walks back to his bedroom. He stares at his still never used bed and then stops by his mirror, sighing. How will he be able to hide all of those scales? He had scales on the waist, thigh, neck, even his hands had scales! Not to say the outstanding fish ears. How does his mom expect him to hide THOSE with earmuffs!?
"Ugh."
He turns to his dresser and then goes to grab the given school uniform and a black scarf. He finishes dressing himself and goes check on the mirror. The uniform looks HORRENDOUS. His skinny legs are not meant for those at all. He then grabs the scarf to put around his neck. It... hides his gills pretty well actually. Good thing he only needs those when underwater... he turns to the bedroom to grab the gloves and the earmuffs. When back, he finishes putting on his shoes... All of that really distracted him. Suddenly— his watch began whistling. 7:17!? HE'S LATE! The bus will be down there in less than three minutes!
"FUCK—"
He puts on the earmuffs quickly and then the gloves, dashing downstairs as he stops by the front door. Isn't he forgetting something? OH RIGHT— his school bag. When he turns back, he sees it on top of the couch... mom. She's always seeking out for him... The second his fingers touched the bag, the bus wheezed outside. He quickly picks it up and dashes outside his house, not looking behind him. He closes the door with his feet and then enters the bus while breathless. He stops by the stairs inside to catch his breath. The driver started to drive as Tyler finishes climbing the stairs. He looks around at the seats... most of them were occupied. He had quite an experience with human buses. He used to watch a lot of teen TV shows back in his old house in his free time. As he's walking in between the seats inside the bus, a blue-haired lady waves at him, patting the free seat beside her. Confused... and slightly reluctant, Tyler decides to go anyway.
