To the person reading this,

It's difficult with some stories to find a place to start. Do you ease into it, start in a place where the chaos the reader is about to walk into is only a possibility brooding quietly in the background, unseen and unheard? Do you throw them in at the deep end with no context to what's happening, the same way life throws you headfirst into most situations?

If there is one thing I can stress to you, it is that I, at the age of 19, did not go looking for this story. I did not for a second think that these disappearances would be the way for me to wake up to the world around me. I did not go looking for what happened after I ended up involved. As I said, life threw me in at the deep end head first and left me to deal with the aftermath.

This is therefore the reason I am writing this letter to you. I hope those of you reading this will heed this warning. This book is not a fairy tale, and it does not end nicely all wrapped in a bow, life does not end that way, so why should this?

I will not sugarcoat the details of what happened. Details have been left out of course for your best interest, but I must stress to you, this book is not for the faint of heart. There will be death and blood, there will be happiness and heartbreak, but below it all is a lesson in trust and self-belief.

I hope you all understand what your walking into.

Proceed with causation,

Noah Richards
