A Door To Where

A young girl named Iris was chasing butterflies in her garden.

She lives near a little town in a cottage-like house. Her father passed away so it is only her mother.

In the distance she observes a strange glowing light and decides to enter the forest to ease her curiosity. After a time of admiring he forest of laburnums, she comes across an open patch.

It was filled with flowers of light greens, blues, yellows, and pinks. She hears melodious laughter. Following the noise, she pushes through a gathering of snapdragons to a large cherry blossom tree. It looked as if sunlight poured out from the flowers. At the bottom of the tree was a door in the ground.

Iris pounds on the door with her foot. She pulls and pulls at the handle.

But nothing happened.

In sadness, Iris turns away. Then the door opens.

It was dark inside so she could not see. But that did not bother her. Climbing inside she leaves her old life behind. Not knowing that it will be a while before she w saw it again.
