The weather was gloomy to say the least. Which is probably why it took Persephone so long to find Wednesday, seeing as her dark style and personality tended to blend in.

"Wednesday! Jesus you certainly take quite a while to find. It's almost like you were hiding from me." She ran to catch up to the girl, a stack of books in her arms.

"Your observation skills are impeccable Seph." Wednesday stared straight ahead, not bother to slow her step. Persephone groaned in frustration.

"You know, you could at least pretend to appreciate my compan-"

"Persephone watch out!" A voice had interrupted her as she looked up, a stone gargoyle coming straight for her and Wednesday. The girl was knocked out of the way, Wednesday being far enough away from the statue to move from under it. Xavier was on top of Persephone who was now unconscious. Her auburn hair spread across her face which he stroked away. He looked to Wednesday who stood silently observing the scene in front of her.

"Shit Wednesday I'm sorry are you okay?" He asked her still not leaving Persephone's side. She tilted her slightly.

"Me, yes. Persephone, possibly not. Get her to the infirmary, I have somewhere I need to be." He nodded, picking Persephone up bridal style, her head slumped against his shoulder.

Hours later Persephone opened her eyes, greeted with Xavier above her.

"Welcome back." He spoke, she jumped up, looking at her surroundings.

"Just take it easy. Nurse said you don't have a concussion, but you probably have a nasty bump, huh?"

"The last thing I remember I was walking outside trying to calm down Wednesday, which was a stupid idea, nothing calms her down." Xavier laughed to himself, looking down at his hands in his lap.

"Then I looked up and saw that gargoyle coming down and I thought, "This would be an interesting way to die." Then you tackled me out of the way. Why?" The boy clicked his tongue, leaning back in his chair.

"Call it instinct."

"Well... I would just assume you were guided by latent chivalry, the tool of the patriarchy, to extract my undying gratitude, but I'm not Wednesday so..."

"Most people just say thank you." Persephone scoffed at his response.

"Okay don't be an ass, I could have easily saved myself. Most likely without getting knocked out in the process." He shook his head yet couldn't help but let a grin graze his lips.

"Good to see you haven't changed Seph." Persephone squinted, trying to remember who else called her that aside from Wednesday.

"If makes you feel any better, let's just say I returned the favor." Persephone's eyes widened, silently asking him what he was talking about.
