Anyway, this is a normal au, where Cale and Alver(Alberu) is best friends. No ship. They're sworn brothers bro.

Nobody knew where they were. Cale looked around, his red locks swayed as he turned his head left and right for a way to escape. "What do we do now?" Alver's low voice reached his ears.

Grr...

A pack of wolves that were surrounding them growled hungrily. Cale and Alver took a few steps back for safety.

'What do we do? How are we going to survive? Can we even survive?' Cale's head was full of negative thoughts.

A hand grabbed his wrist and ran as fast as possible, away from the hungry wolves. Alver knew that Cale had a weak body, and he couldn't even run for a good five minutes. But they needed to run to survive.

"Cale, I know you're the brainy one here, but we don't have time to think. We need to survive together." Alver said. Cale replied with a nod as he ran properly.

Cale tried to catch up to his friend. His breaths were unstable. A pain struck his chest, making him immediately put a hand at where his heart is.

"Alver..huff, I d-don't think I can manage!" Alver's eyes widened as Cale fell on his knees. Cale's hands were gripping his pained chest.

"Can't you hold on for a little longer? I saw a cave not far from here-" he cut himself as his face showed horror. "Cale! Watch out!" Alver gasped. There was a wolf that managed to catch up to them and attempted to bite Cale.

Cale looked behind him and saw the wolf. He closed his eyes tightly. He knew that he wouldn't survive.

Suddenly, he was pulled and was brought into a warm embrace. The sound of the skin torned apart was heard along with a moan.

"Agh..!"

Cale opened his eyes widely at Alver's pained voice. Blood splattered on the ground. They had switched places, with Alver's right leg getting bitten by the wolf.

"A-Alver..." Cale's voice cracked. Alver kicked the wolf with his left leg so hard that he got away. Taking the advantage, he immediately forced himself to stand up and run, dragging Cale along.

Even when he's limping, Alver was a quiet fast runner. But Cale knew he was in pain. They ran into the cave that Alver saw a few minutes ago. At least they're safe there, at least for now.

The cave was so small that they needed to crouch to get in. Alver fell on his knees, breathing shakily as he winced at the pain on his ankle. He was sweating bullets. Cale was still shocked at the turns of event. "Alver.. w-why?" He asked unconsciously. "It was supposed to be me..why?" Tears poured down from his eyes.

Alver sighed, despite being in pain, he approached Cale silently. He gave the redhead his bag. "Cale, I have some food and water in my bag. You can eat them," he said. "Your medicients is in there too. Don't forget to take them."

"Wait, what are you planning-"

"I've put a lighter in this bag. You can use it to light up a fire."

"Alver-"

"And I think my phone has some battery left. Call the rescue team and-"

"Stop! What are you planning?!" Cale grabbed his shoulders, getting Alver's full attention. His worry increased when Alver gave him a smile.

"The wolves are already outside. I need to get them away from you." For a moment, Cale couldn't breathe. "With that, you can survive. Even if we call the rescue team, they can't save us with a pack of wolves around us." Alver took Cale's hand and gave him the black waist bag.

"What..? N-no, are you planning to sacrifice yourself?!" Cale protested. "That's the only way. One of us needs to survive. And I want you to survive." Alver started to smile. "Cale, you're like a younger brother to me. I don't want you to die here, at least not yet."

"Then-"

"Woof! Grr..."

They flinched at the sound. Alver immediately stood up, ready to run towards the wolves until his hand was grabbed by the frail ones.

"No! There must be another way! You said we need to survive together, right?!" Tears streamed down Cale's face. "We've been friends for years! Why would this friendship end now?!"

Alver could feel his sight getting blurred. He bit his lips before crouching down to his friend. He gently cupped Cale's face and leaned forward, planting a soft kiss on his forehead. Cale's cheek was wet by Alver's and his own tears. His hands gripped Alver's hands that were on his cheeks tightly, as if his life was depending on them.

"I'm sorry, brother, but I need to go."

Cale gasped loudly as Alver released his hands forcefully and ran outside the cave.

"No! Alver!" Cale tried to run, though his chest was still in pain. When he arrived, the cave's small door was already covered with a medium-sized boulder. Cale cursed Alver for having insane strength. He heard the sound of skin getting torned apart and the wolves howled.

"No!" He punched the boulder so hard that his knuckles started to bleed. But he didn't care. He didn't care if he's bleeding. He didn't care that he's screaming pathetically right now. All he cared about was his brother's safety.

Losing all his strength, Cale plumped down, blood staining his clothes and tears still flowing down from his brown eyes. Hearing no sound from the outside, he was sure that there was nothing left.

And…

He wailed.

"Cale, you're like a younger brother to me. I don't want you to die here, at least not yet."

[Rescue team here. How can we help you?]

"..."

[Sir?]

"...please come to Mount Deogyusan. There was a wolf attack."

[..are there any other survivors?]

Cale didn't answer.

[...I'm sorry for your loss. Help will come soon.]

Tuuutt.

It took about five hours for the rescue team to find Cale in the covered cave.

"We found the survivor!" Ron, the team leader, announced. "Are you okay?" He asked the teenager in front of him.

Cale nodded his head weakly after a few moments of silence. He was fine, he had survived. The moment he's out, the bright sunshine greeted him. A pool of blood caught his attention.

That must be Alver's blood.

But he couldn't cry. His eyes had dried from crying for the whole night. He hugged the black waist bag in his arms tightly.

He had survived.

But his life could never be the same without his brother to shine for him.

The end :"D
