I woke up in the middle of the night around two o'clock needing to use the bathroom.
As tired as I was I had to get up or I'd have an accident that I didn't want to ever have.
I forced myself out of bed and stumbled down the hall, naturally I sneezed a few times since I had just woken up.
But before I could sneeze that one last time I saw something down the hall passed the kitchen into the dining room and froze.
I stopped breathing, as silence came over the house and my thoughts. Even the loud ringing in my ear had stopped. Which was frightening because it had been going on for about a week.
I even think my heart stopped for just a second, but only a second.
In the few seconds the felt like minutes that it was silent, I stared at what that thing was,
frightened that as if I were to move I would die. I blinked, and it was gone.
I didn't know what is was or where it went but as soon as I saw it was gone I bolted into the bathroom hoping it wouldn't magically appear and catch me. I quickly locked the door.
Afraid it would get in, but calmed a bit that I was safe for now.
Reassuring myself one last time that I was safe, I went to go do my business and as I was, I started to think extremely deep into the matter at hand.
And also what would have happened to me if I had stayed standing there.
In the dark hallway.
All alone.
I snapped out of those thoughts as I realized that I had finished what I was doing.
I washed my hands took a quick look in the mirror at myself, and headed for the door.
But I paused.
While holding the locked doorknob.
I felt something.
Something inside of me, telling me not to open the door.
It was a long pause, longer than what someone would think. But as the feeling slowly but surely vanished when I heard my sick younger brother cough. I built up the courage to slowly open the door.  But-
Nothing.
There was nothing but a cold, empty hallway.
I was slightly relieved, knowing that nothing was there at the moment.
I quickly walked to my room without turning around to see if anything was behind me, closed my bedroom door as I came in my room and turned on the light just to see the path to my bed, than turned it back off and climbed back into my warm and cozy bed.
However...
My thoughts noticed something as soon as I got comfortable.
My eyes shot open as I questionably spoke to myself.

"Did I remember to close my door before I had left for the bathroom?"
