Hello, I'm Mary Rose Margerum. When I was 17 about to turn 18, COVD-19 hit. I was a senior in high school. I was going to Wheatland High School. We all got put into quarantine. While I was in my last year of high school I always got told you are never going to graduate in time. I worked my butt off and did 2 years of high school in one year for 2 years. While I was in there I was in a school that was kinda like K-12. For the ones of you that don't know K-12 is a home school program.
As I was going to this extended school it was all through edgenuity. It was a part of Wheatland High School to help kids catch up on their courses and graduate early or on time. They put a name on this extended school, they named it Peak High School. I was going to Wheatland High just for band and musical theory. The rest of the time I was going to Peak. I had a hard time with Math in Peak so I would ask for my mom for extra help to learn the old way of doing math. I did all the quizzes with my mom at home because that is where I was learning the most. I went to school the next day to do the topic test and I forgot my notes at home that showed me all the steps to get the right answers for that test.
The teacher called me to her desk. I went over there and she started telling me that I was cheating when I wasn't. She pulled all of my quizzes up and pointed them out, "passed, home, passed home, passed school, passed home. It looks to me that you are cheating. I'm going to reset everything and make you redue all of it again and it has to be done at school." I got so mad at her for this. The hole time she was talking to me I started to get irritated and mad, so me thinking of my counselor and what she said would be the best option for me in this situation is to ask for a few minutes to myself to calm down and get my thoughts in order. I asked her for some time to myself and not even 3 minutes later she called me back to her desk and started yelling at me. I was talking to her and she let another student yell at me and put their two senses in on what was going on. I got really mad at this point. I asked her if I could get a pass to go get something out of the band room, maybe I left some of my notes in my band folder. She gave me a pass, I walked to the commons area and found my mom and I had to vent to her about what was going on. She was a bit upset about what the teacher was doing.
