Brother!12th Doctor x Reader

Y/n's POV

Watching Riversong and the Doctor fight over who's more important while trying to stop the ship from crashing I materialise the Tardis around them both and lock the door. Hearing both of them shouting at me I quickly move to connect wires and slow the ship down, not enough to save me from certain death but enough to protect the Tardis and its occupants. Seeing the planet getting closer I look at the Tardis before my watch chimes with a video request and I pull up the hologram with a fake smile.

"What the hell are you doing?" River screams at me while the Doctor watches me with sad eyes. "You'll die! Get in the Tardis now!"

"River, we both know that I can't do that and so do you Doctor." I tell them as I fight back my tears and the Doctor nods solemly. "Thank you, both of you. You have both given me the adventure of a lifetime and I'll never be able to put into words how grateful I am for that."

"You don't need to! You can show us by getting in the Tardis!" River tells me angrily and I look past her at the Doctor. "No, you don't look at him! Look at me! Talk to me!"

"Tell her for me Doctor, when you both wake up and you have both recovered tell her for me?" I ask the man and he nods with tears in his eyes. "Know this Melody Pond, I will never forget you and I'll forever be grateful that I got to meet you." I add as I wipe away my own tears before hanging up the call, taking my watch off and smashing it. Hearing more screaming from the Tardis and the door shaking muffle a sob as I turn to look at the fast approaching planet. "I love you Melody Pond." I whisper to myself as we crash and then everything goes black. Waking up to muffled talking I slowly push myself up from the floor with a groan which gets the attention of whoever's talking.

"Careful! You've not fully regenerated yet!" My brother says as he crouches beside me and pulls me into his body, stroking my hair. "Don't you ever do that again do you understand me! You could have died!"

"I'd do it again." I tell him quietly and he nods in understanding as he rocks me slightly. "Your a softie."

"Only for you." He says and I smile up at him as he leans down to kiss my head. "She's okay, I haven't told her though."

"Good, don't. That was only because I thought I was going to die." I tell him as I feel my body burning slightly. "It's not like she feels the same, not with you around Doctor."

"I'm sorry fate dealt you this hand." He says and I wave him off with a groan of pain. "Almost there, another few minutes and it'll be over."

"I told you to tell me when she woke up!" River shouts as she runs over to be and I smile at her weakly. "How are you feeling?"

"Loke I should be dead." I say with a small chuckle making my brother tense up. "Sorry, too soon?" I ask and he nods as my eyes close slowly.

"No, no, no, eyes on me come on y/n. I need you to look at me. Why isn't it working properly?" The Doctor asks and I open my eyes again making him relax slightly. "That's it, fight y/n. Fight it with everything you have."

"What do you think I'm doing?" I ask him and he chuckles while a tear rolls down his cheek. Reaching up to brush it away I cup his cheek. "No crying, I'm fine. Its working but my body's weak which is why it's taking longer than normal."

"I promise, no crying." He says while River takes my free hand making me look at her only to see tears streaming down her cheeks.

"You almost died! Why? Why would you do that?" She asks and I smile at her, squeezing her hand.

"I couldn't let the two most important people in my life die." I say with a slight cough and she shakes her head. "Jesus christ! I'm taking a break Doctor, after this were going back to earth and I'm taking a break. It'll give you two time to yourselves to just travel and have adventures of your own."

"Oh come on you can't be serious?" The Doctor asks and I nod in return making him frown.

"I was going to tell you before the whole almost dying thing but Kate's offered me a position in U.N.I.T and I've been thinking about it for a while. This is the best option right now Doctor, trust me on that?" I ask him and he nods making me smile. "Good because I need you to promise not to be reckless. I know its going to be hard for you but think you can manage that? Even for a while?"

"I'll keep him in line." River says and I nod as the burning eases. Slowly pushing myself up on shakey legs I grip onto the console. "You suit being blonde."

"Oh not again! Can I not just stay a brunette my whole life? I hate blonde!" I say with a groan and she laughs pulling me into a tight hug. Hugging her back lighlty I look over at the Doctor who's still crying and pull back. "Doc? Want to help me to my room? I really need to freshen up after that." I ask him and he sweeps me up bridal style before carrying me.

"I don't want you to leave." He says quietly and I sigh as he sits me on the bed, sitting beside me. "I could wipe your mind, make you forget about-"

"There's no need for that now Theta, I've been thinking about it for a while now. A quiet life sounds kind of nice right now and yiu can always visit." I tell him and he grins at me as we fall back on the bed. "You know little brother, for as old as you are you're really still a kid sometimes."

"Only with you, it's nice being a kid sometimes. They were fun times before everything went to shit." He says as he rests his head on my shoulder and I nod as I play with his hair. "River doesn't knkw you wanted me to tell her. I wiped the memory when I found you."

"Good because its not needed. There's something about dying that open one's eyes." I tell him and he looks at me confused. "I need to be on earth, its where I'm needed."

"What did you see?" He asks with a frown.

"Me, happy, protecting the world from danger with an amazing blonde at my side. Then my brother, happy with his wife and a little girl in the Tardis." I tell him and he looks at me with wide eyes. "Drop me off on earth and then go with your wife and have fun." I add and he grins as he stands up, holding his hand out to me but I shake my head. "You go ahead, I really do need to freshen up Theta." Watching him nod I relax back in the bed with a smile before moving to get freshened up. The future looks good and for the first time I'm looking forward to it.
