* Three Years *

Life was moving faster than you ever expected. With the blink of an eye, three years passed. That meant three years of rebuilding and catching up with the outside world. It seems like word of Concordia was being passed around. It was certainly interesting adjusting to newcomers arriving on the island purely out of curiosity and fascination. Not many did seeing as creatures lived on the island which you felt was for the best. They saw Concordia as a strange island to stay away from for the most part. The most interesting interaction you've ever had with someone who came from overseas was when they came to the village with this large contraption you've never seen before. They called it a camera and told you to stay still for quite some time as they took a 'photo' of you.

Other than that, you believed life on Concordia was as normal as it could be. Your mother remained in charge of the council with Namjoon also joining, eager to help the village. It was sweet seeing him find his purpose. Anyone who did have issues with creatures clearly left the island. The population was cut in half almost overnight. It was worrisome at first, but not when you guys included the creatures. Everyone was willing to put in effort to keep this place together. A brighter and better Concordia. That included your two sweet friends.

Verona and Aletta have only grown closer with you during this time. Introducing them to your world of magic was fun. It was inevitable due to who they loved spending so much time around! After the ball, Verona wasted no time following Elbert around and making her help her in any way he could. She always gave him the option to say no, yet he never did. That said more than enough to all of you. A couple months later, Verona gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Elbert helped her during the process and wouldn't leave her side the entire time. The next time Aletta and you visited Verona, she excitedly recounted Elbert's confession and promise to stay by her side. There was a lot of squealing!

It was great being an aunt! You adored the little baby named Florence. It was a sweet name that Verona felt honored her friend while also giving her daughter her own name. You loved it more than words could describe. Aletta loved it too and caught up Seres on everything that he didn't know. The elf still wasn't sure on how he got so wrapped up in a human's life. He thought the ball would be the last time he would see Aletta, but if you knew anything about Aletta, she would not quit. Not in the name of love. She was determined and found him, immediately insisting that he take her out on a date and get to know her. Seres seemed to struggle in saying 'no', but you think it worked out well for him.

He was awkward in the beginning, though inevitably got used to her constant presence. Aletta has such a bright and cheerful energy that it's hard not to like her. Besides, you think Aletta won him over with her baking skills. They were so cute! It made you so happy to see your friends doing well. They were also adjusting to the fact that they could do magic now. They knew that would happen after you told them and as soon as it began, you were there to guide them. Arla helped too and honestly, you think being able to do magic with her made you two closer. She made a potion that prevented humans from absorbing black magic easily. In Verona's case and for her daughter, it helped a lot since Elbert was a creature of darkness. He meant no harm to them but his presence would cause them to learn black magic. A type of magic that causes humans to go mad. For safety measures, the potion was made and they knew better than to explore black magic.

You were thrilled it was going well for them. Youngjo often teased at the fact that they chose creatures over humans, but he sure was one to talk. He fell for a human rather than a raven. Speaking of Youngjo, he gained a new capability thanks to you. You performed a new spell on him that allowed him to switch from raven to human whenever he wanted.

That made it fun for Jimin and Taehyung. They could already understand Youngjo, but having him be able to turn human and no longer having to translate all the time was a blessing in their eyes. They often flew around with him and played games. It was nice seeing your sweet raven form new friendships that weren't just with random dogs around the village. If it meant he would stop picking fights with crows and other woodland animals then you were happy as can be. Plus, it was nice seeing the friendship between dark and light creatures become acceptable around the island. No longer did Jimin or Taehyung have to fear others attacking them for simply enjoying each other's company.

That also made it so much easier for Jungkook. Now that there was no evil curse looming over the island, he felt free to simply be himself. He wasn't the demon prince any longer. Demons could peacefully mind their own business and angels were free to do the same. Though often times, Jungkook was curious to know about his mother as well as improving his light magic. Still, he frequently spoke with Taehyung and Yoongi. Accepting himself was a long journey, but he looked so much happier nowadays. Being able to see the change made it feel so worth it in your eyes. Thankfully all of you were able to start fresh with Jungkook.

Yoongi was grateful for that. More than he thought possible. Somehow befriending others was the best choice he's made in years. All this time, he's been avoiding making connections and living a life of solitude. He hated it and now, Yoongi could smile. He still felt fear in the back of his mind, but more than ever, he appreciated all of you. Yoongi just wouldn't say it out loud which was such a shame. To Namjoon, maybe. To Seokjin who was desperately trying to make Yoongi think he was cool? Never.

The merman would keep trying anyway. Nothing was going to take Seokjin down. He happily swam in the castle fountains and occasionally went back up to the mountain lake where he was from. Seokjin had time to be in his true form more often thanks to the curse breaking. Though more than anything, he wanted to spend time with his friends. That included Hoseok who was thankfully safe from any elf grudges. Nowadays, Hoseok spent his time working at his shop. He opened it up a year ago where he would make weapons or do all kinds of repairs for wagons, tools, you name it! He's such an intelligent man that you felt so proud of him.

Namjoon was glad he could have a friend in the village to pester. Finding his place in the council wasn't easy. Mainly because it was a much more humble position than what he was used to. However, if anyone cared about Concordia then it would be him. (Though he was still treated like royalty in your opinion seeing as the fledglings have come to the castle, wishing to live with Jungkook. Since there were so many of them, Namjoon ordered they work as servants for him instead if they want to stay by Jungkook's side and they all agreed.) Everyone was finding their place in the world. They looked so much happier these days.

What about you?

Were you happy?

That was a heavy question...you thought about it deeply as you stood in front of Florian's grave. His parents let you visit him. They apologized when they alerted you that Malakai was roaming their farm but things weren't the same like before. You set down flowers for him and took a deep breath in. Did you still love Florian? Always. But...you also felt like maybe you were ready to open your heart to someone new. Perhaps you were ready for that again. The fear of losing someone you love...you couldn't allow that to win. You shouldn't let it stop you from continuing to experience life. Coming to this conclusion, you were glad you made it on your own. It took time, but most things worth fighting for do.

"Thank you for taking caring of me. I hope you still do as I start this new chapter in my life...it sounds selfish, but I know you will. I would have done the same for you." You nodded to yourself. The breeze pushed hair out of your face as you took in another breath. "I'll keep living. I'll be happy, I promise. I don't want you to worry too much."

Receiving no reply was hard at times. You could push through though. Forgetting Florian was never the goal. That was far too cruel. Learning to live with the pain was tough, but you knew that was the only way. Just after the curse was broken, your mother was finally allowing herself to properly mourn the man she loved years ago. Seeing the effect it took on her, denying those feelings...you couldn't imagine how lonely and painful that was. You think that's why she denied herself of any romance. Possibly out of guilt. She insisted though that all she needed was to be your mother and make sure something like that never happened again. She wanted you to open your heart to love if you could.

"I'm ready now."
