You stare nervously down at the perfectly folded piece of paper in your hands. On the paper was a letter. All you had to do was put it on Hikaru's desk. You have had a crush on him for years and were nervous to see how he would react. You have heard of the plot the twins often pull when a girl confesses. No one ever told you exactly what the plot entailed but you often saw girls running away crying from it. You sigh silently before working up all of your courage and place the letter on Hikaru's desk. You then proceed to scurry out of the room hoping no one spotted you leaving the letter.

You sat in the Ouran gardens for hours, scared to leave and face the outside world. Taking in a deep breath you look up at the clouds once more before standing up and heading back towards the school. You pushed and shoved through the hoard of students crowding the hallway in an attempt to see what the commotion was about. Upon reaching the front of the crowd you were horrified with what you saw. Posted large and for all the see was you letter to Hikaru.

Tears welled in your eyes. Upon closer inspection of your letter you saw comments and jokes written in red along the margins. As you scanned through the first few comments your heart continued to break. You averted your eyes from the paper unable to read anymore of the hurtful and demeaning words.

"What's wrong (Y/N)?" Hikaru asks teasingly as he comes up behind you. "Don't you like my constructive criticism?"

You do not reply. You could not reply. Your heart was just ripped out and crushed by the boy you liked for so long.

"I knew this was a mistake," you mutter under your breath as you continue to stand there and let Hikaru tease you.

You were unaware that Kaoru heard your comment and caught a glimpse of the tears trailing down your face. Kaoru felt bad for you. Out of all the times his brother and him pulled a similar stunt this was by far the worse. Kaoru never understood why his brother did this and he felt heartbroken to see just how badly you were affected by this. Everyone knew it would not just end after this. Teasing was sure to follow the next day.

"Excuse me," you mumble, suddenly unable to handle all of the pain and humiliation, before running off.

No one heard or saw you for the rest of the day. But the gossip continued to circle, just as Kaoru had predicted, and people continued to laugh at your pain.

The next day in the Host Club, Hikaru sat proud of his accomplishment as his brother sat next to him somberly.

"Why did you do that to (Y/N)?!" Haruhi yells as she slams through the club room doors. All of the members jumped in surprise before slowly following the girl over to the twins.

"Whatever do you mean Haruhi? I was just editing the letter for her," Hikaru replies nonchalantly as he leans back into the couch.

"She was confessing her feelings to you. And you embarrassed her! She left early today in tears because of all the jokes people were making about it," Haruhi screams her annoyance bubbling over. "Did you ever read the letter?"

Hikaru scoffs with a roll of his eyes.

"Of course not. It's the same as every other. Just another pointless confession from someone who does not understand and can not tell Kaoru and I apart," Hikaru snapped back.

"Actually Hikaru, you may have more in common with (Y/N) than you think," Kyoya comments, the letter held in his hand.

"Let me see," Tamaki says spastically snatching the letter from Kyoya.

It was silent for a few moments as Tamaki read the letter.

"You are a horrible excuse of a gentleman,"Tamaki declares at the end, tears welling in his eyes.

"Honey-sempai, why are you crying?" Haruhi suddenly questions glancing at the small third year. "Did you read the letter?"

"No, but I am pretty sure I know what it says," Mitskuni explains. "It talks about a girl named Sakura, right?"

"Yeah. How did you know?" Haruhi questions. "Who is she?"

"Sakura was (Y/N)'s twin sister," Mitskuni states as he sits upon Takashi's shoulders.

Everyone in the room, except for Kyoya, Mitskuni, and Takashi, gasp at the news.

"She died in a car accident," Mistkuni states. "(Y/N) was never the same afterwards. She just shut people out afraid of being hurt again."

A knock at the club doors alerts everyone of the presence of a bulter.

"Excuse me for the interruption but have any of you young gentlemen seen Miss. (Y/N) (L/N)?" the butler asks with a bow.

"No we have not," Kyoya states calmly. "Why?"

"We were notified of Miss. (Y/N)'s early departure from school but her location remains unknown. Her parents are quite worried and sent servants to search for her," the butler states before leaving to continue his search.

"(Y/N)-chan is missing?" Mistkuni questions.

"Yes," Takashi answers.

"We have to find her," Hikaru states, his hair blocking the view of his face. "We have to find her!"

With that declaration, Hikaru runs out of the club searching for you. He was wrong about you. You did understand. He wanted to apologize and hold you. He wanted... no NEEDED to tell you that it will all be okay and that you do not have to be afraid.

You sat in the rose maze for hours now crying. Everything hurt. This is why you shut everyone out because in the end you knew it would hurt. But you let yourself fall for Hikaru anyway and in the end you got hurt.

Hikaru searched everywhere and the only place left was the maze. Hikaru ran as fast as possible to the maze hoping to see you. After running half way through the maze, he finally found you. You were huddled under the table in the center of the maze crying your eyes out.

"(Y/N)," Hikaru whispers as he slowly approaches you.

Your head snaps up at the sound of your name and a small whimper escapes your lips upon spotting him.

"What did you come back to make more fun of me?" you whisper rubbing furiously at the tears falling down your face.

"No," Hikaru says softly, finally kneeling down in front of you. "I came to apologize."

Your eyes widen upon hearing this.

"I am sorry for all of the pain, if I caused it or not," Hikaru apologizes, tears slowly falling down your face.

You gasp as you see the tears before slowly reaching up and wiping away the tears.

"It's okay," you whisper.

"No it's not," Hikaru states shaking his head. "Will you allow me to prove how sorry I am? Will you please be my girlfriend? Let me show you that love does not have to hurt."

You were taken by surprise at hearing Hikaru's plea. You give Hikaru a genuine smile before nodding your head 'yes'. Hikaru sighs with relief, a smile growing on his face. Hikaru gently helps you out from under the table before pulling you into a tight hug. For the first time in a long time you felt safe and love. You hug Hikaru tight resting your head in the crook of his neck.

"I love you, (Y/N)," Hikaru mumbles kissing your forehead.

"And I love you," you state tightening your hold on him as you kiss his cheek.
