Hey guys. So this is a story that I wrote for English. I handed it in today, so I thought I would upload it today. It was cut down A LOT to keep it at the least pages that I would have to use, and I don't know if I will edit it to add in what I skipped or not. We shall see.

Once upon a time, there lived a happy family; the Dixon’s. They lived in a nice neighborhood, and had a dog and a cat. There was the father, the mother, and they had triplets; Harry, Tommy, and Tammy. The father, Daryl, worked from home, so he was able to take the kids to school and pick them up as their mother, Carol, went to work at the nearby hospital.

One mild, August day, Daryl had to take the kids to their first day of school. They were overjoyed ten-year-olds, getting to go to school. Carol had already left, sick to her stomach about one of her favorite patients – a cancer patient, whose illness took a deadly turn. Daryl hauled all three kids into the car, and headed towards their school.

About halfway there, Tommy started crying because he realized that his dad would not stay there with them as they went to school. Trying to sooth the sad boy, Daryl turned up the radio, attempting to find any station with soothing music, or anything to calm him down. However, he found on every station he tried, the Center for Disease Control talking.

“There has been an outbreak of some kind in Baton Rouge. Please go straight home, and lock your doors and windows. Stay inside, grab your pets, and go inside. This is very urgent. Do not, for your own safety, leave your house. Do not open the door to ANYBODY.”

There had been a ‘zombie’ outbreak, and nothing they could do could stop it.

10 Years Later

“Have you heard anything from dad lately?” Tammy hollered across the store, while going through the empty Wal-Mart that closed down last week, trying to find anything they could use.

“No, not yet. It’s only been a couple days, Tam.” “Don’t freak out over it.” She heard from her two brothers, from the other side of the store.

“You guys know how it is now – he should have at least called last night and told us he was okay,” Tammy said while grabbing the non-perished cans of food that were strewn across the aisle because of the rampage of people that went through there.

“I really wouldn’t worry too much about it. He will be home soon.” Harry replied as he chucked a rotten apple across the store. It clunked against some boxes, making them topple over onto of each other.

A few minutes later, Tammy heard Harry again, “Let’s start loading up, how much have you guys gotten?”

“Not much, just a couple things.” Tommy answered.

“I’ve got half a cart full of cans of food. I know you two just hate peas and green beans, but that’s the majority of it.” Tammy sang. She could the boys grumbling, causing her to giggle.

They walked to the front of the store, where they went through each checkout, grabbing all of the lighters, matches, gum, and whatever else they could use. Harry went through the registers to see if there was anything left in them, however money was of no use anymore anyways.

They then left the store with two and a half carts full of things, mostly food and clothes, whatever they could find anyways. Tommy started filling up the large Tahoe while Harry stood watch, and Tammy got into the vehicle like always and turned on the radio. However, she had no luck yet again – there was still only static playing on the all of the stations, meaning that there was nobody at the broadcast stations. “Or anywhere…” Tammy thought.
