The sun was finally starting to set outside this late evening. Geoff wasn't used to such warm weather in the middle of winter. He forgot his jacket back at the apartment, but the breeze from the fresh air felt decadent on his skin.
Google past 10:00 PM was basically a ghost town. The twenty-fifth floor seemingly the emptiest.
Geoff's palms were sweaty from excitement--but a modest air of anxiety shifted in him. Geoff trusted that she would be there waiting for him... but how well could Geoff actually trust Erica Rosenbuckler?
Erica's office was extraordinarily clean. Even the piles of paper that stacked her desk were impossibly organized. Centered on the mahogany piece of polished wood was a name plate. Carved in gold--Erica Rosenbuckler--and below in small letters, Chief Engineer.
Opposite to Erica's desk was a glass wall. It unveiled a high rise view of Silicon Valley, drifts of buildings flowed on for miles, emitting colors like an Earthly galaxy. It all seemed so peaceful. Maybe Geoff should come here on Mondays more. He looked out to the California skyline, amazed by how far he's came. A year ago, a condo in the tech epicenter and a senior developer role in Google seemed out of the question--but yet here he was now. His thoughts trailed off for a silent moment until the ding of the elevator sounded.
"Geoffrey."
Erica's sultry voice filled the quiet room. She was dressed in a fitted blouse and tight pencil skirt--a laced garter belt wrapping her thighs.
"Erica, I'm glad you could make it," Geoff raised an eyebrow, looking her up and down.
"You were here early, I see. That excited to see me?"
Geoffrey smirked. "Maybe I was."
The blonde woman made her way over across the room, her heels tapping against the marble floor.
"Isn't this city beautiful?" Erica said. She was now beside Geoff, who stood a whole foot above her. "I remember coming here thinking I'd be an aerospace engineer... but one coding class in, and look where I'm at. Tech really is the future. This whole city is engulfed by it."
Geoff looked down at Erica. Her mascara was slightly smudged, but somehow it made her glassy blue eyes even more catching.
"How old were you when you came here?"
"Twenty. I followed my ex who swore he was going to be a famous rapper. Got fucked over... and now I'm here."
