Look around you, tell me what you see.

Do you see your bedroom? Maybe a kitchen table? Or perhaps a park?

Wherever you are, your surroundings are probably very real to you. It's your reality, and it's no different than it has been your entire life.

So how would you feel if I told you there is more than just your reality?

What if I told you there was a reality, where all of the magical creatures you have ever been told about live. It's not even a separate world, it exists in your bedroom, in your school, in your entire community.

I am aware that there are theories of a multiverse, a group of multiple universes that make up space and time. That's not what I am talking about.

I am talking about a separate reality, in your same universe, that you simply cannot access.

I mean did you seriously think people were simply creative enough to make those kinds of things up?

If humans had the knowledge about this place, they would lose their minds. They'd spend hours trying to either prove or disprove it, searching for it, and I am sure some people would claim they have been there and make up stories about it for the attention.

This is the very reason why this reality isn't relative to humans, because once upon a time it was.

When this universe was originally created, these two realities were one. Humans evolved and advanced and learned to peacefully coexist with all the magical beings. It was a harmonious place full of nothing but peace and happiness and the magic that existed from these creatures was used for good.

I'm guessing you know where this is gonna go.

As humans continued to evolve and advance, so did their greed.

They wanted their magic for nothing but themselves and for their selfish wishes. Whether it was money, fame, or even just power, they wanted it for themselves. In fact, they wanted it so bad they were willing to rip a hole in the harmony and happiness that existed in the world. The creatures knew when it started that if they didn't do something, it would turn into a world of slavery and misery for them.

As the greed and evil continued to grow, evil creatures began to appear. These creatures were terrifying to anyone. They committed horrible acts to both humans and the creatures and it was later assumed that they were creatures without souls, zombies almost. They were not born from humans or creatures, they simply generated to keep a natural balance so that humans would not become corrupt.

The creatures knew when it started that if they didn't do something, it would turn into a world of slavery, misery, and horror for them.

So, they gathered up the creatures of good and they combined all their magic together to put up a magical barrier between them, and the humans and evil. This barrier is known as "The Rift," a crack between realities, if you will.

Once the rift was up, the humans were so hurt that they refused to acknowledged what had happened. Many stopped telling their children about the creatures and eventually humans learned to understand the incredible stories of these things as nothing but legend and myth.

The creatures also banded together to put away the creatures of evil, which are also now known as nothing but folklore.

The rift is an interesting thing, because even though humans cannot see it, mythical creatures can. In fact, there are entire jobs in this separate reality that involve protecting or viewing the other side of the world through the rift.

My favorite part is, despite all of the awful things humanity has done to the mythical creatures or, "the mythics" as they are often called, the mythics continue to watch and help the human race.

Ever heard of strange experience involving a guardian angel? Mythics. A sick child is magically cured? Mythics. A person bending down to pick up a penny, just in time to miss a horrific accident? Mythics.

In fact, one of the most notable positions a mythic can obtain involves, not just protecting humans, but saving a life.
