Nina

I don't know what to do. I don't want to keep living like this, living like I'm being controlled by everything. My every move, my every decisions.

"Stand up straight, you don't act like that Infront of your aunt and uncles if they arrive," My grandmother says and I immediately obeyed. It's always been like this, me obeying her orders and as the first grand daughter I must follow, no questions asked.

"How is your school? Did you get to see you grades, I hope it is high like your cousin Kyle." Another thing that I hate is being compared to my older cousin Kyle. I know he is great at everything, no need to tell me. I am very aware grandmother.

"I did not. It wasn't released yet, grandma" I replied. I lied, I did saw my grade. I passed every subject but it won't pass on my grandmother's expectations. I don't want to let her see my grade, she will just put me on a embarrassing moment and probably another core memory that I couldn't be able to forget.

"I hope you have aimed the grades that I want like your cousin," I heard her mumbled but I just ignored her and eats my food. I want to finish this meal and leave immediately, I don't like being with her.

"Are you in a rush? you're eating so fast," My mother came holding our cat Kevin. I look at her and she sighs. She knows, she knows how tired I am and how much I am trying to fit to my grandmother's expectations. "Oh, you have that walk today. I forgot." Mom added then she puts Kevin down.

"What walk?" My grandmother asks. I looked at her and give a small smile "I have to meet a friend. We talked about books and stuff." She looks at my mother then went her gaze again to me. "I hope you're telling the truth, Nina." She says and I smiled widely. "I won't lie to you, grandma."

*-*-*-*-*

"You told her that?!" My friend Bea says. Right now, I'm at their house wasting time. I told her about what happened, and she knows since the very beginning what is happening to my life. And she knows how ruined and messed up I am because of my situation. She's always amazed how I am still here and fighting, and because of this she's always worried about me.

"Yeah. It's not really my thing to lie but I don't have a choice. Besides, I'm doing okay if I leave that house." I replied and drinks the apple juice she prepared.

"I'm just worried. You lied straight into her face and smiled, you're getting braver." I chuckled. "You think? Haha. No, if you raised your granddaughter and you're being strict to her in everything? I promised you, she's very good at lying." I replied. She just sighs to me.

We heard a knock and Bea stood up and bunch of guys at front door. My eyes met another pair of eyes and his eyes are the prettiest eyes I've seen. Who is he?

"Hi, sorry Bea medyo na bored kasi kami. Pwede tumambay sa inyo?" Bea looks at me and I just nods. Ano pa ba magagawa ko. And this is not my house, it's not my rules, it's Bea's.

"Hello, I'm Dion." A small guy approaches me for a hand shake and I just nods and did not accept his hand. "Kiara Camille Nina Buenaventura, but my friends call me Nina," I replied coldly and he smiled and took a seat. "So, Nina paano mo nakilala si Bea? kami kas- I cuts him off.

"My friends only call me Nina. Kiara, 'yun itawag mo sa'kin. And I met her when we we're grade 9, we're classmates." I replied and Dion laughed awkwardly. I noticed the guy that I made eye contact earlier. "Ikaw? Ano pangalan mo. You're familiar," Tumingin sa'kin ito at tumawa. I noticed Bea laughed too.

"Nina. Si Kiel yan, kaklase natin noon." Bea says and I examined his whole body. He did changed. From an ugly face to an handsome man. "You turned into something," I said and he smiled. "Thanks. You did too, ang laki na pinag bago mo. The way you talk and the way you reply to a person is very cold now." I did not expect him to be straight forward. I smirks and he did the same. Did I found the right opponent?

"Ino-obserbahan mo ba ako?" I asked and he smiled.

"Let's just say that I do admire you a lot before." He replied without hesitation. Even nandito mga friends niya and what he just said to me is embarrassing he said it anyways. Hm, a brave man, I see.

"Si Dion kababata ko yan, Nina. Parehas kasi si Kiel at Dion ng strand which is ICT, 'yun dapat kukunin mo diba?" I nods at Nina.

"Really? Ba't nag bago isip mo?" Tanong ni Kiel. I shrug my shoulders, I know the answer but I'm not really the kind of person who will tell everything to you. "People change their decisions. Yun lang yon." I replied and he nods.

"You? What happen to you and bakit bigla kang nag bago?" I added and he scratches his nape. "I changed for one person but I guess that person changed." He replied.

I stared at him coldly. "Well people do change, it's nature." I mumble loud that he can hear.

"Or maybe something happen for them to change? Trauma? experience? I don't know. It's just disappointing to see someone change." He said and our eyes locked. No one dares to look away, it's like he is saying that his message is for me.

"Haha, Bea aalis na kami. Mag iistart na next class namin eh," Dion stood up and I looked away first. Nobody eyed contact to me for so long. No, let me changed that, no one dares to looked at me in the eyes except my friends.

"Sige mas mabuti pa. Ingat kayo Dion, Kiel." Bea looks at me. "Mag paalam ka na. Be kind," I sighs and looks at them. "Ingat kayo." Dion nods and Kiel smiled. "Sige, see you around?" I raised my eyebrow at Kiel. "No, we're not close." He chuckled and left with Dion.

"What an odd guy," I mumble

"I think I just witnessed the first guy who is brave enough to eye contacted with you," I heard Bea says and enters her room.

No, he's just brave. He doesn't know me. No one should know.
