The night before Lydia's birthday, white flakes of snow, fell from the sky, slowly gathering on the ground. The usual night sky had been illuminated by the brilliant whiteness of the snow. A few hours later Lydia awoke with a chill as she pulled the edge of her blanket over her head. Her eyes fluttered open as she heard the vibration of her phone on her bedside table. She then got up slowly from her bed and picked up her phone and put on her glasses as she read the text.
Group chat: Emilee, Brittany: Open your window and look outside!
She hastily stepped toward her window and opened it. Lydia, smiled at the icy wonderland sight, fresh snow was one of the things she adored, right behind reading of course. The street lights in the neighborhood were still on since it was still quite dark outside early in the morning. It didn't take long before her excitement had her bounding out of her room in her pajama's to play in the fresh fallen snow. When she arrived outside, she scooped up a handful of snow and threw it in the air just to fall once again. She giggled with excitement, since she'd never shown her love for snow in front of her friends, since it had never really snowed this hard. Until that morning when her best friend Jax just happened to be out for a early morning jog, when he saw his best friend in nothing but her pajama's playing in her front yard, knee deep in snow. "She would be crazy enough to play in the snow when it's freezing cold out in her Pj's" thought Jax. As he walked towards her as silently as he could, luckily the powdery snow made it easier for him to sneak up on her, and he did, successfully making her laugh in the process when he suddenly hugged her from behind. Which startled her at first but when she realized who it was she giggled happily. "She's always so happy and just her laugh always makes my heart melt at just the sound, but I would never say that out loud, in front of her nonetheless" thought Jax. Just as Jax had finished his thought, Lydia had scooped up some snow and thrown it at his face. "This means war" he said as he grinned evilly. "Huh??" Was the only thing that slipped out of her mouth before she was diving for cover from a flurry of snowballs. She came back up shortly with her own snowball ready to throw, when another snowball exploded into powdery wetness in her face. "That wasn't fair!" she whined, "But, you started it" Jax teased. "What were you doing out here anyways?" Replied Jax. "Oh! Umm..." Lydia blushed, "well you see... I couldn't resist playing in the freshly fallen snow before anyone else could, so that's why I'm out here in my pj's." "Geez, you could've at least put on a jacket or some warmer clothes, " sighed Jax. As he took off his scarf and wrapped it gently around her neck. "Your going to catch a cold in your sopping wet pj's if you stay out here any longer" Said Jax. "Your probably right, wanna come inside, I'll make you some hot cocoa to warm you up?" Replied Lydia. "Sure" said Jax as he followed her inside, sat by the fire and welcomed the warmth as it heated his cold hands. After Lydia had made him hot cocoa, she insisted that he stay for a while, at least until she laundered his scarf since it was also slightly soaked. Jax agreed reluctantly after 10 minutes, since it was nice sitting by the fire in her house. Jax then threw his jacket onto one of the sofa's and leaned against it to watch a movie, while Lydia left to take a hot shower in order to warm herself up while the clothes were being washed. "That reminds me today is Lydia's birthday, I wonder what I should get her" wondered Jax. About 30 minutes into Jax's movie, Lydia came out in a black sweater, and jeans with her hair in a towel and sat down next to him and let her hair out of the towel to air dry over her shoulder. Which made Jax slightly annoyed, since he was slightly impatient, so he took her towel and turned his body to face her as he sat cross legged and dried her hair for her. "Aww thanks Jax" said Lydia. "No problem." Replied Jax. Once he was done, Jax turned his body to face the movie once more. A few minutes later his favorite part in the movie was about to happen, so he tried calling her name to get her attention, before it passed but she didn't answer. Which made Jax curious so he leaned back against the couch arm, only to realize that she'd fallen asleep when he wasn't looking. "It's not surprising that she fell asleep, since it it pretty warm and comfy in here" thought Jax. "But she's not in the most comfortable sleeping position, so she may wake up soon." As if to prove him sort of right, Lydia shifted her position and suddenly wrapped her arms around Jax's right arm and continued to sleep on his shoulder. Startled by this at first he tensed but then relaxed himself when he looked at her adorable sleeping face. Which made his heart beat loudly against his chest, at the sight, as much as he was tempted to at least whisper a barely audible 'I love you' he restrained himself as he mentally slapped himself and thought "she's your best friend! Don't screw up your friendship with her now, and you don't even know if she feels the same way dummy!" He then snapped himself out of his train of thought, when she had woken up slightly embarrassed that she had fallen asleep on him. But he reassured her multiple times that it was perfectly fine, and he didn't mind. She then hastily got up slightly flustered and excused herself to go get his now dried scarf and her laundry, when she had come back with a basket of laundry and was walking back to him, he insisted on helping her, so she handed him the basket and he placed it down near their sitting area which was slightly small so when Lydia stepped over the basket, coincidentally Jax's scarf caught on her foot and caused her to trip. Which would've ended badly if it weren't for his quick reflexes as he caught her mid fall in his arms. Both of the teen's panted as their hearts thumped hard against both of their chests, as both of them felt like the other could hear it. The adrenaline that coursed rapidly through both of their veins didn't help the fast paced beating of their hearts either. Each of them stared into the other's eyes completely mesmerized with longing. "That's it, I can't restrain myself any longer, not when I'm this close to her beautifully blessed presence" Thought Jax. With that Jax placed his hand on the small of her back and pulled her into his embrace as he closed the distance between them and kissed her with a longing passion, which was returned with equal passion from Lydia. After what seemed like forever the two broke the kiss, panting heavily. When Jax had caught his breath he leaned in close to her and whispered in her ear "Happy Birthday Lydia, I love you~"
