I'm beginning a new story, this idea popped into my head overnight. Please let me know how you like it and I will continue writing!!! Not much to really grasp yet, though. Just tell me if you'd like to hear more about our little friend, Silvius.
I grabbed the edge of the roof with one hand and began to slip. Using all of my might, I attempted to vault myself over and on top of the roof, but failed. I tried a second time, feeling my strength seep away. The sweat on my body fell off in drops, disappearing into the abyss below. I felt the slight movement of air around me and knew that the others had just passed. Looking upwards, I tried one last time to throw my weight onto the roof. Unable to bear the pain any longer, I began to fall into the darkness under me.
I woke up with a start, hearing my alarm beep multiple times before I slammed it to the ground. Mumbling, I slowly got up out of my bed and got dressed into a T-Shirt, jeans, and a hoodie. I stumbled out of my room and saw my mother standing in the kitchen. "Hurry up, darling," she said quietly. "You don't want to be late." Walking over to the closet, I glanced to my left and looked out the small window to my apartment building. I shook my head in dismay thinking that all of the people already awake at this time are insane. I opened the closet door and took my messenger bag which hung on a hook. I started to walk out the door when my mother stopped me, like she does every day. "Are you going to eat? I'm assuming no." Without looking back, I shut the door behind me and stepped out onto the busy streets of New York.
