"Get your lazy behind up!" I heard my sister yell as she harshly knocked on my bedroom door. Why did she have my house keys again? Oh right, she had them made behind my back. "Kasey, get up. Don't make me come in there!" She carried on, like a mad woman. I groaned and dragged myself out of bed, pulling on my sweats over my boxers and not bothering with a top over my sports bra, joining her downstairs, in the kitchen.

"What do you want from me?" I asked as I grabbed a water bottle from the fridge and leaned against the counter drinking it. "Well, number one, it's almost midday and you haven't eaten. You need to get some groceries just btw, your fridge looks sad, like you're barely getting by or something. Number two, that delicious snack of a friend of yours, Jessie, said she didn't see you at the gym this morning so I was worried." She said and I groaned at the description she opted for.

"Kora, you're in a relationship." I said to her, running a hand through black hair and I noticed how much it had grown out. "Problem with you is you aren't. Besides, I can still look. Your friend is a definite snack." She said, moving around my kitchen, making some food and I sighed. "How is it a problem exactly?" I asked, chugging the water down once more.

"You've become a cold shell of nothingness." She said, filterlessly. "Gee, thanks." I mumbled and she rolled her eyes. "I meant that in the nicest way possible." She said smiling up at me innocently before getting back at this with the food. "You're the meanest little shit in the entire world. You're really not as nice as you think." I threw at her and she laughed.

"I enjoy every moment of it." She said. "So mom has been asking about you." She started after a while of silence. "Yeah?" I asked and she nodded. My mother and I kind of had a fallout soon after I graduated from college. She was too old school to understand that I did not wish to be a doctor, like her and my oldest sister Kai, or a lawyer like dad and Kora. I studied engineering and she hated every single second of those four years. After I graduated she said some things that I could not stick around to tolerate.

We barely saw each other, that was unless dad forced me to come around. "She misses you." She said, briefly glancing at me. "I miss her too." I said, smiling a bit. I mean she was still my mother. I loved her. "She is also worried that you're getting old and you are still very much single." She finished, cockily. "I am 25 years old. I have plenty of time. Unlike you and Kai." I shot back. Thing is, I was the youngest but I was the most protective of my sisters. Kai was 31 years old and Kora was 28. They were also way shorter than myself... To be fair I did take after our father.

At 5 foot 9, I towered over their 5 foot 2 and 4 foot 10 respectively. Kora was the shortest but the meanest. Kai was a bit taller than her and she was the quiet one. "Besides, you know I don't do relationships." I said as I threw the empty water bottle in the bin. "She did a number on you, huh? Should have let me skin her alive." Kora said and I sighed. I had no interest in talking about that part of my life. No interest in where the conversation was headed. No interest in reliving what she did to me. Kora knew that we didn't talk about her...

"Anyways, what's up with you today? You seem so inactive." She asked. "Yesterday we wrapped up a major project at work and let's just say it wasn't fun." I said as I yawned. "Poor thing. But I guess the perk of having your own business is that you can take a break today and your employees slave on." She said, pouting. "So family dinner this weekend. You joining us?" She asked.

"Depends. Will mom be there?" I shot at her and she rolled her eyes. "Yes, dummy." She said. "I don't know, I have work." I made an excuse and she sighed. "Come on Kase, she'll be very happy to have you around." She said, dishing up for us. "I don't know, Kora. The last time it didn't go so well." I said, accepting the food and thanking her. "Yes, I was there, remember?" She replied sassily.

Sigh. "This will cost me my peace of mind." I said and she sighed. "Fine, I'll come. Now get out of my house." I said after a while. "See you Saturday. Six pm sharp. Byeee." She said as she grabbed the bacon from her plate and walking past me, chunking it down like the animal she is.

I finished eating after she left and made my way upstairs to get a quick shower. After my shower, I got dressed in some blue jeans and a white shirt. As I walked out my house, I grabbed my car keys and unlocked it. What better day to get groceries? I started the car and drove off, listening to the radio, which wasn't interesting. When I arrived at the shop, I parked and went right in.

I grabbed a trolley and walked around the shop, picking out what I needed. While I was browsing down one of the aisles, I noticed a lady struggling to grab the soap from the highest shelf. She had to be around 5 feet and she was on her tippy toes. I walked towards her and grabbed the soap for her, accidently placing my hand on her waist when I almost fell over.

"Oh, sorry, Here you go." I said and I removed my hand from her waist and waited for her to turn around but I regretted even approaching her when she did. "Alexis" I whispered at the same time she said, "Kasey."
