I woke up to the excruciating sound of my alarm and I groaned as I flipped over and turned it off. I laid in bed and stared at the ceiling for a while. First day back home after so many years, felt a bit surreal. "Alexis, sweetie, get up. Your sister is here to see you." My mother said as she knocked on my door.

I let out a long breathe and got up, pulling a robe over my pajamas and joined my family downstairs. "Alex!" My sister exclaimed and pulled me into a very tight embrace. "Jess, hey sis." I said as I patted her back, struggling a bit since she held me so tight. "My little sister is all grown up." She said as she moved away and ruffled my hair.

I always hated when she did that. "Your little sister by like one minute." I said as I rolled my eyes. "I am still older." She said, pouting. Yeah, anything to shut her up. "How was Asia?" Jess asked and I sighed. "I was almost recruited in the mafia." I joked and Jess and I laughed but our mother did not find it amusing. "Don't joke like that." She said as she slapped me upside the head.

"But seriously, it was amazing. I don't want to get in detail about work but the vacationing part was awesome." I exclaimed, excitedly. "I have never met anyone who vacationed for six years." Jess said. "I was studying you asshole and I couldn't refuse the job offer afterwards." I shot back. "Language!" My mother warned as she walked closer to me. "But she is right, baby. You didn't even visit." She said softly.

"You guys know why." I whispered and wrapped my arms around myself, feeling a bit vulnerable. "We do and we understand but both of you guys need to move on from that." My mother said. "She can but I don't think I ever will." I said. "Are you kidding me? She has been beating herself up for the past six years!" Jess exclaimed and I sighed. "I am sorry for that but can we not talk about her?" I questioned. I really did not want to feel guilty all over again.

"I am just saying." She responded,s hrugging. "I need you girls to get me some groceries today." Mother said, pulling out a ridiculously long and detailed list. "Mom, I have gym class." Jess said and mom rolled her eyes. "Class ends at some point doesn't it?" She asked. Jess and I watched the smart mouth walk out of the kitchen before we glanced at each other.

"Wanna join me to gym class? Give you a break from... that." She said and pointed in the direction mom left in. "I can hear you!" Mom screamed from the other room. "Sigh, you coming?" She asked, turning to me. "You are so weird. But yeah sure, I'll come." I said and she lifted her hands in surrender. "What did I do this time?" She asked.

"That whole saying 'sigh' thing rather than actually doing it, I don't get it." I explained. "Rolls eyes." She said, smirking at me and I knew she was only doing it to piss me off. "Walks away." I said over my shoulder as I left the kitchen. I made it upstairs into my childhood room and changed into a workout outfit, simple black leggings, with a pink waistline and a black sports bra.

I tied my shoes and grabbed my phone, headsets and joined Jess in the kitchen. "Mom, we're leaving." Jess screamed. "Don't you scream at me, young lady!" Mom shouted, approaching us. "Run!" Jess exclaimed as she dragged me out the house, moving away from our mother.

I shrieked as she pushed me into the passenger seat and rounded the car, hopping in and driving off. "Oh my God." I laughed as I looked over at her and noticed that she actually looked like a thug, driving away from the cops. "You good?" I asked and she nodded, laughing.

We maintained a comfortable silence after our laughter died down and I saw that she was pulling into a parking lot. "We are here." She informed and I looked to the building. Man, I missed home. We both hopped off and I retrieved her yoga mat from the back seat. I really was not planning on doing any strenuous activity, so she'd workout but I would do some yoga.

We both headed in and went our seperate ways. I set up the mat as the class began and we got into all the excruciating poses for two whole hours. "Namaste." The instructor said as she got up and packed her things. I stretched a little as I walked out the yoga room. I noticed my sister with Kora, the girl that hated me most. I took a step back and waited for her to leave. When she did I joined my sister and I didn't bother asking her about it.

We drove in silence when we went back home. "Mom, we're home!" Jess screamed. "I warned you about that, Jessica." Mom shouted from the kitched as I looked over at Jess and laughed. "I am going to shower." I said, leaving them. I quickly washed up and got dressed in white jeans and a white T-shirt. "Mom, I am ready to head to the store." I told her as I joined them in the kitchen.

She handed me some cash, which I refused and instead asked for my car keys. Ever since the woman drove it, she felt like it belonged to her. "You coming?" I asked Jess and she nodded. "Mom, we're leaving!" Jess screamed once we were out the door. She always did that to piss mom off, I swear. "Jessica!" Mom shouted, frustrated. "Run!" Jess said as she went for the passenger seat of my car and made herself comfortable.

When I hopped in, I rolled my eyes at her. "Mom wasn't even chasing you this time around." I said and she shrugged. "I just really enjoy doing that. Like my own little tradition." She said asif expecting me to know that. "How old are you?" I asked as, I pulled out the driveway. "24 years, 10 months and 3 days." She said and I briefly looked at her. "Wait, you keep record of that?" I asked, partially concerned.

"Why not?" She asked as she threw her feet onto my dashboard. "I will fucking throw you out if you don't remove them, now!" I freaked out and she laughed. "You're no fun." She pouted and pulled her feet down. I finally pulled into the parking lot after a long ride of dealing with a woman child.

"Get out." I said as I reached for my purse and hopped off. I locked the car and went into the shop, with Jess hot on my tail. She grabbed a trolley and flew across the store, leaving me behind. I sighed as I followed her in, looking at mom's very specific list. A few items down we went to search for mom's face soap. Whe we got there, Jess ran off to get herself some snacks.

When I checked the shelves, I saw that it was at the highest one and dammit, Jess was the taller one of us both. I tried reaching for the soap and struggled until I felt a presence behind me. I then caught a wiff of her scent, lavender and vanilla, kinda reminded me of... her.

Whoever the person was, they reached for the soap and held onto my waist. I waited for them to retrieve the soap as I played with my fingers. I couldn't really turn around or move away, I was trapped by them and the shelves. "Oh, sorry. Here you go." This person said with a very familiar voice as they removed themselves from me.

I finally turned around and looked up at them to thank them but I never got the chance. "Kasey." I said at the same time she said, "Alexis."
