Falling For The Blue Eyed Boy

Today was the day! Tonight, Nash will ring my doorbell and take me out to my favorite restaurant!

What do I wear? I've never been on a date before...

Let's take a look in my closet!

This blouse? No, too small.

This shirt? No, too casual.

This dress? No, too formal.

Wait a minute...there it is the perfect outfit for tonight! Nash is going to love me in this.

It's a fancy yet casual light blue dress with jewels and I'll wear it with a cute pair of black heels! I curled my hair and did a natural smokey eye and put on a beautiful locket. It was my mothers. It was the last time she gave me before she passed. She gave it to me so I could be with her always and I felt the need to bring her on my first date! Which would probably weird to most kids.

"Whatcha getting all dressed up for kiddo?" asked my dad.

"I have a date tonight!"

"Oohhh! A date?!"

"Hey Charlotte! Guess what?" screamed my dad "Emily has herself a date tonight!"

"Oh how exciting!" said Charlotte from downstairs.

"If you need anything just let me know," said my dad as he started exiting my doorway.

He popped his head back in. "Oh! And use protection!" he said laughing as he walked back downstairs. I could hear Charlotte laughing too.

Protection? It's only the first date? What if he wants to do the kind of stuff? What if I want to do that kind of stuff? What if it's supper awkward? What if I expect it to happen then he thinks I'm weird?

Charlotte poked her head in my doorway. "Don't worry about any of that stuff it's only the first date. Your dad is just teasing!" She smiled and headed back downstairs.

Sometimes I enjoyed having Charlotte in the house but other times I felt that she tried too hard to replace my mother. No matter how hard she tried she could never be my mother.

Soon an hour passed then another hour passed and another and another as I sat waiting. And soon enough it was 8:30. Nash was an hour and a half late!

Soon my phone lit up:

Sorry I can't make it. Something came up.

"Something came up"? That's all the explanation I get? Worse first date ever.
