It was Luke's birthday but Clive was the more excited one of the pair.
He was currently running up and down Luke's house adorning random pieces of furniture with ancient party decoration that included mistletoes and candy canes as well.

Luke was sitting on the couch watching as Clive ran about the house, he had got the house all to himself and didn't understand why Clive even bothered decorating the place. Clive had suggested he invite his recently acquired friends but of course Luke had refused. Not because he wanted to be alone with Clive or anything.

"Where do I hang this?"

"It's not Christmas, Clive." Luke said, eyeing the bright red bauble dangling in Clive's hold.

"Picturesque." Clive whistled, taking a full look at the house.

"It looks like Tesco during Christmas." Luke said, wondering where exactly the picture was.

Luke couldn't blame Clive though, his family owned very little to no party decoration, for the simple fact that they never had a party.

"I can't believe you're not inviting any of your friends." Clive huffed as he sat himself down beside Luke.

"Sorry to disappoint mum." Luke replied dryly.

"Why are you so moody today?" Clive said with a hint of sadness in his tone.

Luke didn't miss the flash of hurt that crossed Clive's face and was just about ready to give himself a beating for causing pain to the boy he loved.

How was he going to save himself from this?

"It's because I'd rather you spend time with me than decorating the place." Was that good enough?

"Oh right, sorry." Clive apologised, his cheeks slightly tinted pink with embarrassment.

"Alright! So! Listen up," Clive was rummaging through some bag he had brought along with him.

"Look what I've got...it's a schedule for the day." he said as he beamed at Luke, proud that he had picked the habit of following a schedule from Luke.

'Marry me Clive.'

'Also, you run the risk of getting me hard.'

"You're the best." Luke chuckled, receiving a cute smile from Clive.

"Checkmate." Luke smiled up to an aggravated Clive.

"Oh piss off." Clive replied as he cleared the board of all the pons in one swift motion of his hand .

"I can't believe this is your definition of fun, this" Clive pointed to the board, "chess."

"Now don't be a sore loser." Luke chuckled.

They had run out of things to do and had to resort to ancient methods to keep the day going.

"Do you reckon you'd have enjoyed a night in the club any better?" Clive asked, he doubted Luke was having any fun today.

"That's disgusting Clive. Why would you ask me something like that?"

Well it was true, Luke couldn't stand noisy places or people and Clive knew this but surely Luke was regretting staying in all day with him and it kind of hurt because he wasn't given that many options to make a day of it.

Meanwhile Luke just stared into nothing in particular with an aloof smile wondering how this day could get any better. He had spent his birthdays prior to this one with his parents who'd stay in with him all day and play video games, trying their hardest to decode the controllers in their hands and even though Luke really enjoyed that it just couldn't come close to the day he had with Clive. Though there was nothing special about today he couldn't contain the joy he felt at having the boy all to himself for the entire day. Yes he had his parents kicked out for the day, anything for Clive.
