"My love, Vivian, I hope this note finds you well. I am terribly sorry about not being back to your loving arms in the time frame I had hoped, other things came up. However, my work unit is hosting a dance, and we may have a plus one. I have already bought you a ticket, please pack your bags for a week or so, and we shall go home together once everything is set and down, Mi Rosa."

He did have his way with words, my fiance. But it was never like him to hold out like this. Maybe I should go, just in case. If it's not a masquerade party, it is now. The thoughts came to a subtle simmer in the back of my mind while I continued reading.

"I love you, and the address of the hotel I will be meeting you, and staying with you, is located in Toyama, Japan. The ANA Crowne Plaza. I only choose the best for my princess. I hope that the flight shall be safe, please call or text once you get this.

yours , and only yours , M. McAlister."

We decided on my last name. His real name was Mateo Sagel. I liked his last name, but he didn't. Not everyone likes their own aspects of themselves, there's nothing we can really do to keep it from happening. The note had left my hand slightly trembling. I had never truly left south Australia. I had a beautiful, though small home along the neighborhood homes in Adelaide. But to be quite honest, it was either this or a small apartment with a view of a trash can. But I live atop a hill, and once the sun starts to set and the lights of the thriving city fill the sky, it is just magnificent. Of course the population around here is slim, nobody likes to drive a stick-shift up a hill in fear of trying to shift gears, and not being fast enough to switch pedals without breaking or damaging anything.

But, none of that matters. I lifted my phone to text him, though Instagram had already been opened, his page pulled up on the screen. I scroll through, and make sure he hadn't posted anything out of the ordinary, it seemed as though he hadn't. I shrug it off, and call his cell. Ring, one, then two, then three. He always answered on three. His voice sent chills down my spine, I hadn't heard it in gods know how long because of the time zone differences. He sounded like he had just woken up.

"Hello?" he mumbled, hard to hear as shuffling could be heard in the background.

"Hello my love," I'd hum back, pleased with the fact he had answered as I reread the location on the letter.

"Vivy! Did you get the letter?" Mateo seemed to perk up, his smile could even be heard in his words.

"Mhm," I hummed back, my vocal chords a little scratchy. I didn't talk to a lot of people, especially since I'm not too talkative when I'm alone.
