"How many gifts do you think this is?"
"... I lost count, Tikki."
The young fashion designer sighs, gently placing the newly acquired mail on top of the stack of gifts beside her desk. She meant what she said. Marinette did lose count of how many wrapped gifts were mailed to her — from various different countries, too. She swore she saw Argentina and Greece in one of the gifts. How they were sent to her almost every single day, she never knew.
Heck, she didn't even know who sent them.
"I knew you'd say that," her little flying companion sighs, landing on her distressed holder's shoulder, "not including your parents', I'd say that it's about twenty-nine."
"Maybe," Marinette grumbles, pushing herself further from her desk to admire the pyramid of gifts in all it's glory, "But I just want to know who it's from."
"A secret admirer?" Tikki, the kwami companion of Marinette, suggested and the young designer halts, debating whether or not that was the case. It sure seemed like it — with all the sweet talk in the notes, she assumed that it is. Yet there was no "secret admirer" in any of the notes.
Just "me".
"I don't think so," she sighs, rest her chin on the palm of her hand, "this person seems to know me — and by a lot."
That definitely scares her how accurate those gifts are.
From snacks, to games — even fabrics she wanted to have as her own. Every gift that was mailed to her was everything that Marinette absolutely loves. She thought about her relatives, but their gifts would be a lot different. Of course it wasn't her parents because they would give in immediately after she asked if it was them — plus, they were receiving gifts the same way Marinette was. She had to rule out her family, as well as friends because the gifts that were sent to her wasn't exactly known. She kept some secret, and yet she still received them from whoever this person is.
It was driving her insane. She personally wanted to know who sent it but she had no clue or any leads whatsoever. She thought that it might be an akuma that has powers that would reveal someone's secrets, but it's been quite the past few weeks, so she has to rule that out.
"I give up, Tikki," Marinette groans, running a hand down her face in distress, not noticing her door to downstairs, opening. "I'm never going to know who sent this..."
"Wait, so you didn't know it was her?"
The new voice startled her, causing Marinette to jump from her seat. But, the words reached her ears, and made her look at her father in shock. So, they know who the sender is? How!?
"Wait — her!?" she yells, in disbelief when he looked at her like she was crazy, which she was close to being just that. "Who is she, dad? Y-You knew who these were from?"
"And you don't?" Tom counters, confused. But he hummed after a second later, remembering that his daughter is now a teenager, and not a kid. Makes sense that she wouldn't remember the promise — but her friend? Now would definitely be shocking news to him. "Then again, you were only kids when you two made that promise."
"What promise?" honestly, she just wanted to know who the sender is, why she got gifts and why her parents seem to know who it is when she doesn't — oh, and what promise her father told her. "Just... who is it?"
