The night outside grew colder and colder, icicles forming out of every crevice possible. Inside, it was the burning flames of kindness and warm sweaters that kept Sharon and Carol warm tonight. The two were pressed against each other snuggly while they still held hands and watched television. Sharon put her head on Carol's shoulder and looked up at her, smiling. "So you're my new roommate, looks like you'll have to be for a couple days. What do you want to do?". Carol really resisted the urge to say "Aww" as Sharon moved herself closer, clearing her throat and smiling back. "I've never stayed with anyone, remember? I've never even showered in years! And boy, it felt amazing!". Sharon looked back at the TV but held onto Carol's hand tightly and lifted it up. "But this is also my first house, you know? I'd love to just do something with you, I love being with other people the most". The two just rested their heads on their shoulders, warming one another in a cute fashion. "After this storm is over, I'd like to take you to places. Where have you never gone, then?". Carol turned her head as she thought. "I...I haven't been to many places in many years I think. I'd like to go to the park. I've been there, but I'd love to be there and not be stared at or called names, ya know?". Sharon nodded while her head was on Carol's shoulder. "And I've never gone to the park with only one other person. Usually I go there to clear my head or because I was invited to a reunion. I'd like to spend some time there with you...". The ginger turned her head and moved it from Sharon's body for a moment. "Can I just ask, why are you so nice? No offense, this is all still so unreal to me". Sharon stammered and turned slightly red as she also moved away, both sitting upright now and no longer holding hands. "Oh, well, like I said, I did want to help, but...but I also like having someone else here, a friend. With each other, we won't be alone, you know?". She was smiling awkwardly, she didn't expect such a question to make her feel that way. Carol just smiled, booping her new friend on the nose. "Again, no offense, but you seem pretty awkward. Are ya afraid I won't like you?". "Y-Yeah, but I have to be kind too, so...". She just smiled more while she awkwardly laughed, rubbing her neck. "You're the first person I've had a strong connection with in a while. Don't forget that you saved me out there, and you're willing to let me stay. Just be you, the same way you decided to save me". Sharon sighed, rubbing her neck and replying. "You're right, thanks Carol". "No problem. I wanna know, is my shirt done?"
Sharon's face lit with confusion for a moment before she gasped. "Oh, your shirt!". She got up quickly, walking to her drier and grabbing the fresh warm shirt. "Hehe, where'd you get this, Carol?". She held up the shirt, shaking it a little and smiling. "I love the little blurb on it, it's so...", she hesitated to say it was weird or anything that might offend her guest for a moment, looking at her and shrugging, "eccentric is a perfect word, no?". Carol didn't really react, getting up as she grabbed the shirt politely from Sharon's hands. "Eh, little thing I wore in high school so often". The bright green shirt shined elegantly again, although there were some slight visible blemishes on the text that said "I'm with stupid". "Oh well, thanks! Although this sweater has grown on me a little". Carol extended her arms and turned around once. "It's so warm and liberating too, no wonder you live happily!". Sharon blushed and tried to hide her smile. "Well, if you won't wear your shirt, how about I wear it then? It's only fair since you're wearing my sweater". Carol didn't really know how to react, sort of looking at her funny and holding back her laughter. "You sure? You're gonna look like a crazy hobo lady, talking from experience!". She scoffed as Sharon took her sweater off, revealing a plain white shirt underneath. She didn't feel comfortable taking her shirt off as well, so she just slid Carol's shirt over it, which fit on like a glove surprisingly. "Heh, like looking into a mirror", Carol responded, both standing in front of one another and smiling at how stupid yet silly of an idea this was, wearing each other's favorite clothes. "Don't you have anything else? No offense, sorry", Sharon asked, inspecting the shirt on herself. "What, are ya looking to just dress as me all day?". "Well, I could do you a favor too". Sharon began to walk to the living room, grabbing the cups of cocoa that were now empty and heading to the kitchen, continuing her little chat. "I wouldn't mind cleaning and drying your clothes, you are my guest after all! But you know...who says we can't have fun and just, oh I don't know, wear each other's clothes like immature kids?". Carol's playful and sarcastic attitude started to crumble away at the realization that she didn't really own anything else. "Eh, besides that blanket, I didn't have anything else, I sort of just lived on the streets wearing the same stuff, covering myself with that rag when winter came...". Rubbing her arm, she diverted her eyesight elsewhere, but her voice trailing off was enough for Sharon to realize that maybe that wasn't the best question to ask. As she put the empty dishes in the sink, she strutted over to Carol, seeing her in some form of distress and embarrassment, but she already apologized preemptively. "Ah, that's okay, don't worry really! And don't forget, I still have more clothes and an entire bed for you! Speaking of...". Sharon glanced at her watch quickly. "It's 9:07, when should we sleep?". "Your house, when do YOU sleep?"
