Hi, this is the second iteration of the story. I didn't like what I had put in the first try, so I revamped it a bit. It's mostly the same, but I made it so he didn't get a quirk (because quirkless vigilante Deku is one of my favorite au ideas), and touched up a bit of the writing. Sorry to those who liked the where the first one was going.

In this au, Deku has the same backstory, except that when All Might saves him he asked if he can be a hero without a quirk before All Might can take off, and All Might said no and then immediately took off. Hurt by his idol, he gave up on his dream of being a hero.

Prologue:

Izuku went to a normal high school, at which he go bullied for being quirkless, and something in him snapped. Because of the bullying, he was able to convince his mom to let him take fighting classes. When he went back to school in his second year, he ended up sending four of the bullies to the hospital, one of which was in critical condition, two of tho others with broken bones, and fourth with only a few fractures and cuts.

He was kicked out school two weeks into class after a week suspension for the fight. He would have been sent to juvenile, but he was let off with a warning due to it being self defense, which was proven by all of the emails Inko sent to the school about the bullying.

At sixteen he began making support items, remembering how cool the ones Mei Hatsume were when he saw the UA sports festival in his first year. He enjoyed making them, and thought for a while that maybe he could sell them to heroes. He tossed that idea when he remembered that he would need a license for it.

He moved out of Inko's house at nineteen and moved into an apartment.

One day, two years into living in his own place, there was a robbery of a convenience store near his apartment, and Izuku was annoyed about it as he had met the family that owned the store and they were very kind. Izuku took off after the criminal and caught up to him in about seven seconds. He pulled the crook into an ally and hit him a few times before he dragged the guy to apologize to kind family and turn himself in, which he did with zero hesitation.

The heroes that were called to stop the guy asked Izuku about how he had caught the guy and inquired if he wanted to become a hero. Izuku said that the criminal had ran into him in the ally and tried to mug him, so Izuku started defending himself. That was when noticed the things he had stolen, asked the guy about them, and had him confess when he told him who he had robbed. He wasn't interested in yet another scolding about vigilantism being illegal. Izuku plainly refused the offer to become a hero and said that he was content with his life. He left out that he was quirkless.

He saw himself on the news that evening.

The next day, he was pulled into the same ally by a tall figure. She informed Izuku that her name was Void. Void was a tall woman, taller than himself, and her platinum blonde hair pulled back into a long ponytail. Izuku figured that she must be a responsible woman, noting that she did not share the eye bags he had under her dark eyes. She wore a tailored deep purple suit that complimented her pale skin, and a black tie fit cleanly under the collar of the pristine white dress shirt. She offered a card to Izuku and explained that she was from an underground association that gave jobs to "those who decide where their loyalties lay". Izuku told her that he wasn't interested, but Void insisted he take the card at the very least. Izuku took it.

A few days later, having gone over the pros and cons of Void's offer a multitude of times in his head, a new hero approached him and asked if what he said on the news was true. Izuku promptly ignored her. When she grabbed his arm and questioned him again, Izuku twisted his arm out of her grip and backed away from her easily. She was in stunned at how effortlessly he had broken her grip, and Izuku took that as his opportunity to leave.

He went straight to his room when he got home and took out all the notebooks he had filled in the past, mainly looking for last one he had written in. He skimmed through it, looking for the hero he had encountered, and cringed when he saw All Might's signature. He didn't find any notes on her in his notebooks, but the skim reminded him of all the information he had collected on heroes, and villains for that matter. He looked at upper left corner of his desk, at the card from Void. He stood up, grabbed his phone, and dialed the number.

Two and half months later, he walked into Void's office and dropped a bag on her desk. Void looked at it and took out a box from her desk. She opened it and handed Deku a stack of bills. Deku turned to leave but before he could Void asked him is he wanted an extra job. Deku agreed and asked about the job. Void only told him to meet under a specific bridge at 11:00, and to bring his notebooks.

At 10:42 Deku started on his way to the bridge. He got there at 10:53 and waited for Void. But someone else showed up a few minutes later...

This concludes the prologue. The story will actually start, and have dialogue, in the next update. I hope you enjoyed!
